Reroute from inside to the roof, that’s all you can do. I think it was a previous post where somebody did it. Could be a multitude of random reasons why Ford engineering put it inside.
Good points Brian. You’re probably right. Just seems to stand out more with bronco braking system. I’m just curious if the 285/70R 17 vs OEM 255’s will affect wheel bearing or hub longevity. I’m assuming Ford doesn’t take into account after sale wheel change.
OBX non SAS - OEM 18” off. Ford steel with 285/70R 17 on. Have noticed a slight squeal in the wheels after leaving parked for a few hours or a day. Move 50 feet, apply the brakes and squeal stops but comes back after releasing the brakes. Is this due to brakes not designed for 285/70R17’s?

Thank you for all the responses. Much appreciated. I’m hoping the MPG increases over the next 500 - 1000 miles.
Tempted to put the OEM tires back on to see what the difference is.
550miles. 2nd tank of gas….topped off a few times. Random topography. 50% light to light. 25% interstate using cruise as much as possible. Balance rolling Hills.
Never tracked MPG with OEM 18”.
Swapped tires within first 100m.
It is a brick but have seen claims of 19-20mpg with SAS pkg. Figuring factory SAS tires are more highway tread than Rubitreks.
Economy not priority was just hoping for more than 15.5
2024 OBX non SAS. 3.73 ratio.
Swapped tires to 285/70R17 Falken Rubitrek on OEM 17” steel.
629 rev 18 OEM off and 632 rev 17’s on.
As close as I could get to 629 trying to keep speedo within 1 mph.
550 miles ..15.8mpg max via
highway with cruise set.
15.4 around town.
Tires dropping mpg...
Had Off-Road Warehouse ordered OE model bumper. Brought bronco in for install.
Received a phone call from front counter at ORW that the bumper is damaged. Luckily technician had not taken OEM bumper off yet. He was smart to view the new bumper before starting the job.
DV8 does a great job...
Hopefully the Ford factory rep is reading this string. At some point you need to offer an option to paint the hardtop body color. Seen a few shows where they sanded down the top, added heavy coat of primer and painted it body color.
Complete transformation of the vehicle.
Possible for 2025?
Been waiting for a dark metallic green but no one brings it back in trucks. Eruption green is ok as long as it isn’t in bright sun.
Went with silver instead. Should have my OBX by the end of this week.
