Anyone have a good idea for a system to allow a 50lb dog to lay down in the passenger seat without taking up all the footwell space (Orvis Foam Box)? I was thinking a hammock setup may work utilizing the two grab handles.

I encourage my dogs to stay off the passenger seat. If the airbags go off, they will become decapitated.

My 80lb Pitty rides in the passenger seat with a harness and no issues, He's light enough that the Airbag stays disabled, Before a recent Diet he would turn the bag on and off at 85lb if he moved around, so was relegated to the back seat for that period. I would think with a good harness your pup would be fine n the passenger seat.

You'll get the usual "dogs belong nowhere except a secured vault tied down in the rear cargo area". That said...I can say a dog in the passenger seat seems like the most unsafe place (moving around while you are driving, airbags, windshield, etc.). I can't think of any harness or hammock that would be a good idea. I have some reccomendations for back seats though.

Yes! And amazing how a dog can actually puncture a hole in a windshield!
I respect my dogs life way too much to have him on the passenger seat just so we can have a little fun....
Who knows what lunatics are driving around out there....

Or you could just use the 'Griswold' method and tie him to the bumper and just hope he keeps up.

I have a 100lb Blue nose and a 70lb Aussie and I have a hammock for both of those two jabronies in the back. Surprised a front passenger option hasn’t been developed but that’s probably bc of safety regulations.
