Coming to the final leg of our journey today: Reno. Just an overnight there and then the final trek home. Itās been an amazing two weeks of travels, trials, and amazement. Once we get home Iāll do a proper update with logs and photos. Thanks to everyone who contributed in this thread or just...
Thanks to everyone who has stayed up with this thread offering tips and advice, especially @Callelk
Yesterday we cut through Yellowstone on our way to Livingston, so today we are going back take some time actually stopping to enjoy things on the northern end of the park we passed by on our way...
Thank you. That makes me feel much better about not taking it. The discrepancy between the website and the sign led me to believe that perhaps someone just didnāt reset the sign. But if it was a matter of potentially disturbing wildlife, then I feel good about my decision.
We ended up cutting...
So we got to the entrance and were greeted by this:
The blm website mentions no road closures for the Boise area, but I donāt want to be foolish about things. Would it be unadvisable to continue?
Yeah, we are having our first ānon-travel dayā today in Boise, and we planned on part of our activity today to be the Murphy to Silver City route that Callelk mentioned earlier.
The weather forecast in Silver City looks like:
āSnow showers likely, mainly after noon. Some thunder is also...
I love the idea of spending some of the travel driving off-road to get to our destinations, especially if it goes around boring portions of the drive.
Please tell me more about this detour to Boise via the Owyhee/Birds of Prey area. Which trail or trailhead do I start at? Donāt have to access...
Craters of the Moon looks awesome, but according to their site, all lava tubes are closed. I donāt know if that means if its still worth it or not, or if itās just part of the attraction of the place is closed for the moment: https://www.nps.gov/crmo/index.htm
Jackson Hole is something I know...
Thanks for all of the great advice so far everyone!
Lots of people saying Winnemucca is not great, lol. Itās just a matter of where it is in the route in terms of distance driving from our start in Chico. Plus, thereās the opportunity for the Winnemucca Dunes!
Other places that donāt seem to...
About to go on a big trip, don't have a roof rack yet, so I got the TRED gear bag to stuff the recovery boards into and attach it to the spare tire. The straps on the bag start at the bottom and buckle near the top of the bag.
The trouble is, I can't see to figure out the best way to attach...
My lady, our dog, and I plan on setting out this weekend for the biggest road trip we've taken together. 2 weeks, 5 states, 8 cities, the peak of which will be us spending a few of days visiting Yellowstone, few more days Jackson Hole, and the surrounding areas. We've broken up the route so...
Understood. I was simply referring to wires 2 and 3 (the ones solely dealing with the switch) being omitted.
As far as grounding the solenoid is concerned, connecting the solenoid and the winch to the negative battery terminal (As I understand the diagram) is adequate, correct?
Sorry if Iām...
This ended up working, right? Splicing the yellow onto an AUX wire and foregoing the red and ground wires to the provided switch?
Iām actually about to install the power interrupt kit now and wanted to verify.
