Shit man, I couldāve done a prettier job on the trusses. Really canāt believe the guy let it leave his shop looking the way it did. But the main thing was how he sets it up in the lathe to ensure the axle is straight and aligned before welding it up. He also did the diff housing to the tubes and...
Iād recommend outsourcing the welding to a reputable shop. Maybe look at their work before committing to avoid getting the shoddy welds I got. Yeah, theyāll hold, the truss is straight, and axle is true, but damn the welds look like shit.
Besides that if you can remove a bolt and reinstall it...
RPG UCAās and dual-shear mounts installed. UCAās were easy and straightforward. Need to get an alignment set up. Mounts needed a little trimming to accommodate the brake lines on the driver side. Both needed trimming to work with the bigger control arms.
This carrier comes about halfway down the crossmember as well as bolting to the frame and body mounts. Iām not worried about it as much as I was concerned about the final contraption holding the tire in place. Guess weāll find out.
Nice. I was more curious as to the actual device though. There are a few out there but I donāt have experience with any of them. Most of my recovery experience is with semitrucks, winches, and really big kinetic ropes. No matter how many times I see it I never get bored watching a 2ā rope shrink...
Didnāt see the second part š
You assume youāll have enough anchor points and line to hook up three pulleys!
But yes, you are correct. Or you could just install another winch. š
Absolutely I agree. Had a guy talking shit about the frame mounted recovery points I installed. His beef was that they bolted in. Then he goes on to say he uses a recovery hitch that slides into the receiver. Dude has clearly never seen how pathetic that crossmember is š
But as was already...
I got it as low as we could and the fairlead is sitting flush against the bumper. No tire interference and should still be good with a 40ā spare unless weāre winching at an upward angle. Then weāll need to open the tailgate.
