So we all know the front & rear crash bars are removable for installation and fitment of larger tires for non sasquatch models, but the modular bumpers require end caps to be removed to have enough clearance to remove the front crash bar.

Does anyone know if you can remove crash bars on the capable bumper ? Do we have to remove the entire bumper?

It seems there is very little info out there regarding the 2022 Capable Bumper. I have read that it can support the brush guard and the winch, really!?!

I just got a 2022 Badlands with the capable bumper. Mine is a Sasquatch so it came without the crash bars. But there seems to be ample room in that area. I would say that with some maneuvering, you should be able to take out the crash bars without messing with the bumper.

I will be trying to remove the crash bars this weekend. I'm hoping the plastic cover behind and on the side of the capable bumper removes easy with just a couple of screws. That's the only thing I see that would stop the bars from coming out. The steel doesn't look to be in the way

If for some reason you do remove the plastic trims, can you pls post a pic?

Here is more detail on how to remove, or in my case replace (https://www.4wheelparts.com//p/4-wheel-parts-big-tire-kit-62213/_/R-4WPBR-62213), the front crash bars with a 2022 Badlands with CAPABLE bumper. This was done with the tires in place and on the ground. Here are the general steps with details.

1. Remove the 7 bolts from the plastic end caps on each side of the bumper.
2. On the drivers side you will need to either disconnect the headlamp or clip the cable ties (I clipped the ties)
3. Remove the 2 top bolts from each of the front crash bars
4. Slide the plastic end cap and crash bar out at the same time
5. Place the nut clips back into position
6. Simultaneously slide the new crash bars and end caps back into position
7. Insert and tighten all bolts.

Here is the location of the top passenger 5 bolts that need to be removed. The back ones are somewhat tough to get.

The bottom 2 bolts on the passenger side. You will also need to pry the clip next to bolt 7.

The drivers side bolts 1 and 2 are obstructed by the headlight wiring. I clipped the zip tie to loosen the cable. It's still a tight spot tough.

Once you remove the plastic end caps and crash bars you will be left with a bunch of clip nuts which may not stay in place. Gently bend/push the inside tab back with a pair of pliers. Put the clips back where the came from originally and they should remain loosely in place.

Before replacing the drive side end cap I added zip ties (only had blue) using the original mount points to make it easier once it was back in place

This is a side-by-side of the OEM vs 4WP crash bars. The 4WP is much thicker gauge steel and looks to be well engineered. Rolling the dice since there has been no testing, but it certainly seems like they should do the job.

Hope this is useful.

Just use a sawzall and cut it in half. If you are going through the effort of removing the crash bars do you really see yourself reinstalling it later?

Yes. Reinstalled 4WP low profile crash bars to accommodate 35's. You still need to remove the end caps to install the new crash bars.

I ended up loosening the bumper to remove the stock crash bars and then installed the 4WP big wheel crash bars. 2" leveling kit also installed, really makes a difference. Tires next

Can you post a pic with the lift before tires? I'll be doing one and am curious if 2" is too much with stock tires.

Has anyone checked to see if the Capable tow shackles and plastic "bumberettes" can be installed on the standard non Capable' plastic bumper?

Obviously old post but here is a big bend with 2" lift on stockers. Zone off-road lift.
