Amsteel is good stuff! It is UHMWPE (ultra high molecular weight polyethylene). I have A Wyeth Scott power puller that has 35' of Amsteel blue 5/16". I also have 50' of 3/8" and 150' of 1/2". Use these for pulling down trees. It is as strong as steel. You have to protect it from abrasion and not good to store it long term in sunlight. It is good for pulling but does not stretch so it won't store energy like a kinetic rope.

I love me some SpeedStraps. If only 2" was in stock anywhere.

Agreed. You can't really beat speed strap. Quick, adjustable, stretches for some extra oomph, tough as nails.

Stretch seems like there would be disadvantages.

At first glance watching the youtube video I thought the small rope he was holding at the beginning was going to be the rope that pulled out vehicles😳, lol.

Stretch is really nice when trying to get someone out of say mud. Also takes away the violent jerk of a rope that doesn't stretch. It only slightly stretches. not like rubber band stretch. LOL

A rope with some stretch is the best for a recovery rope, it adds a bit of cushion between the stuck and recovery vehicle.

That whoopee sling idea comes from the arborist industry, the tree trimmers use those.

@Freedom_Recovery_Gear was the first to bring those to the off road market summer 2019. Both as an adjustable sling for winch extension and rigging, they also offer them in their Hi-Lift Jack recovery/rigging kits.
