Although my google-fu resulted in nothing, it appears the Braptor has the same transmission and axle venting that the Everglades has to fortify/enable a good water fording spec. Evidence (at least explicitly for the rear axle is at the 6 minute mark in this video here ). I assume the other axle and trans follow suit.

The Everglades is speced to ford up to 36.4" whereas the Raptor is 37". I would have expected a larger difference, based on both tire size and body height. Maybe the breathers mount slightly differently.

Regardless, glad the Braptor didn't get cheaped out here.

As to one-upmanship by Jeep the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 20th Anniversary Level II by AEV (mouthful... and the only "factory" way to get 37s) provides a whopping 37.1" of water fording capability :ROFLMAO:.

Despite all of the numbers, specing fractions of an inch for water fording is a bit silly/meaningless, by Ford and Jeep.

Thanks for the info.

If the Braptor has 37” of fording capability then is it fair to say that it’s safe to ford water that goes as deep as the (factory) tires? Am I thinking about that correctly? Granted the BFGs are technically like 36.5”

Yup, that's a good way to know/test the limit - up to the top of tires. That's very far up the doors...

If I was into water fording I would get an old junk pickup and lift it. I can't see doing that to a new $80K vehicle. Yeah I get it these are off road vehicles but man that is brutal service especially considering all the wiring and electronics.

Then there is the height of the low mounted alternator to worry about as many owners have found out.
Is this issue also present on the 3.0? I saw it on the 2.7 but wondering if the 3.0 in the Raptor is different?

Easy to relocate breather lines very common on Jeeps to run them to the engine bay and mount them higher. Also not sure why alternators are failing I’ve had water over my Jeep hood many times and never an issue.

So is the quoted Ford number not correct? I haven't heard any stories, Raptor or non-Raptor or both? Share.

Mud is the issue. The alternator gets wet all the time, unless you live in the desert.

The alternator issues has more to do with sediment than getting wet. Muddy water seems to be the problem for the 2.7.

I thought I read recently that the 2.7s built after 11.22.22 came with a bigger plastic shield around the alternator to address this issue. Has this been confirmed?

Found some more good info

All Broncos came with shields. Alternator failures led to a revised/improved shield that was used for '23 models. Failed alternators not initially covered under warranty but now (and have been for a while) are along with shield upgrades. There is a TSB.

Discussion on B6g here.

Folks don't seem entirely convinced the new shield is more effective or much changed.

Concerning the advertised water fording depth on all models...does the adverstised depth apply to trucks with MT? Does anyone know if the MT trans/clutch are sealed and vented?

The guy I signed my paperwork with when getting my Bronco said this to me. "I can't believe someone would spend all this money to take this vehicle offroading". My reply "I can't believe someone would spend all this money on an off-road vehicle to not take it offroading". That's what it was built for. Why take an old truck through that obstacle when the idea is to off-road your Bronco? You want to see what the BRONCO can do, not some old beater.
