I think it looks good, but how does it compare to how a typical Hothead Headliner installation would look? I can’t imagine doing it myself with Hothead would look as good, but I don’t have any experience with Hothead.

To me it looks like it was cut kinda wonky, if you zoom in on the pics, the straight edges are not straight. Also does not appear to be very thick or insulating, looks like felt they glued to the tops; not sure how that would qualify as sound deadening.

We need more glue! What material is very good at absorbing sound? (Serious question). I know it has to be something pourous so as not to reflect the waves.

It looks like typical production car quality. No it doesn't look heavy, actually looks kind of light.

I have hothead in my jeep.

Hothead is much more of a thicker mat upholstered in headliner material. Like a soft pad. It’s backed with cardboard and heat reflective material.

This appears to be basically just a thin fabric/felt application to absorb sound / echo.

If it’s like their Jeep product, Hotheads would probably have be cut smaller to leave room for the shape of the panel and for the latches to operate... since it’s a sturdier and a thicker product (1/2” or so?)

I’ll see if I can find some picks of the hothead I can add to this post.

Seeing these photos, I’m definitely going with hothead again.

::EDIT::

This is directly from the Hothead Headliner website. You can definitely see the difference in their videos, but this may work.

From their site:
They start out with a 1/8" panel board which get a radiant barrier attached to one side and 1/4" dense polyethylene foam laminated to the other. The JL Wrangler headliners are completed by covering each panel in standard headliner fabric, which wraps around all edges for a clean, finished look. The headliners attach to your Jeep hard top using 3M VHB tape which is stuck to ABS strips that were attached to the backs of the panels before being wrapped.
Note: I think he’s holding two back to back. Thats a single on on the table ans the back side on the left (with the reflective layer).

Like I said, I’m absolutely going with Hothead again. They’re such an amazing product in my Jeep. They’re on the forum. @Hothead Headliners

...That's carpet. They're asking $495 for carpet.

Pretty sure I can get similar material from hobby lobby for $2 a foot. Just need scissors and a glue gun!

Edit: Thanks OP! You might've seriously just saved me $495. But I'm curious what the additional sound deadoning material is in the High Package. For BL it can't be carpet...
