while checking my manufacture date on the truck I noted that my spare is a 17inch rim according to the sticker and a different size tire then stock. I went with the 18 inch rims and haven’t actually looked at my spare yet but hopefully it will be a match of some kind even though the rim is smaller.

Yeah, Oops! I made the same mistake. I ordered a set of 5 tires (275/65-18s) for my stock 18” wheels. And come to find out that the spare wheel is a 17”. Now I have to head back to the tire shop again and change out the spare tire with a 275/70-17. Very close in size.

Yes it is. And that’s what I want. Any kind of alloy rim with a finish on it will be destroyed by all the road grime. I looked to see if I could replace it with a steel 18” rim but no luck, so I’ll just stick with the 17” wheel and a full size tire. Since I went up in tire size and haven’t modified the crash bars it was very important that I keep the same offset for the spare wheel. Imagine a scenario where you puncture one of the front tires on a rocky trail, replace it with the spare wheel, and then pop the spare because it was rubbing in the front wheel well (due to the different offset). You’d have a really bad day.

I sense a trend....:)
My four tires are the sport version 17" Dueler A/T's but the spare is a 16" Hankook 255/70. The Rim looks like your's (only cleaner - lol). Maybe the spares are all mounted on 1" smaller diameter wheels?

My 4wheels and tires are 265/60 X 18 but the spare is 255/70/16? The XLT is suppose to come with a 17 inch tire? Is it just mine or you too missing real spare size just in case?

Your spare uses a 16 in wheel because it's much cheaper to use a 16 in steel wheel as opposed to the 18 in aluminum wheel.

Wheel diameter is not significant, only outer tire diameter. A 265/60/18 is a 30.5" outer diameter tire whereas 255/70/16 is a 30.2" outer diameter tire, which is a close enough approximation.

I would have preferred the same size wheel but I had pushed the purchase price so low they were not giving into anything else I had wanted to "Fix"... i got my XLT Sport with all the options for basically 35K +T/L
