Mpheugot- just read of a 2.7 black Diamond that quit suddenly on the Highway and the dealer is replacing the engine. Sounds like the valve issue. Not many miles on it.
Bronco 2021+ (not sport) group on Facebook. Maybe can be added to your data seeking thread that I can’t find this morning.

not sure why it’s not showing the copied and pasted link.

Is this happening a lot? I ordered a 2.7 and would hate for this to happen.

Not a lot, but a few possibly limited to a bad batch of valves.

Yes & No. There are a notable amount of 2.7s that are needing engine replacement .. however when compared to the actual amount of 2.7s on the road that are fine, it's a very very small percentage. I'm eagerly awaiting my 2.7 to go into production in a couple weeks, without fear.

what do you define as notable?

I’m guessing the number is a fraction of a percentage point, but I have no data.

this guy said coolant was going everywhere, doesn’t seem valve related but idk

Yeah I thought the same thing with the coolant.

Notable as in there are enough to take note of, that it is a reoccurring problem - but a very small margin of them are affected. At least based on what has been seen thus far.

Seems like within the first 3-5,000 miles.

Is there a common mileage by when it seems to be happening? In other words, at what point should I deem my 2.7 to be in the clear?
I would just have your dealer do what I had mine do. When it's delivered have them take it back and open the hood and check all connections. The one I'm hearing about the most is just like this one. For some reason there seems to be a batch of 2.7 Broncos that arrived with very loose fitting connections. Mainly the coolant hose/hoses. So if you have a loose hose it could happen real fast or it could potentially hold for a while, but it's eventually going to let loose, coolant goes everywhere, engine go byebye.

Many of the dropped valve engines seem to be happening in very low mileage (up to a couple thousand). The problem is the "Bad Batch" engines haven't been out a long time so there aren't a lot of them that have more than a couple thousand miles on them...so who knows?

That said, if you go search the forum for the thread that is documenting them, they've worked to narrow the build dates and sequence numbers of the engines and you may be able to gain some comfort if you're well outside that window.
