If Ford were to make a full size bronco...

If Ford were to make a full size Bronco again would you like to see it F150 based or F250 based?

I have not misplaced a damn thing. The reason the Jeep Wrangler sells so well is because it has and for decades has had some serious off road chops even in stock trim. The doors and top are part of that package, and have always been, or rather, the doors and top were added to make it more street-able as the original design was without either, and keeping them remove-able was in order to keep the Wrangler somewhat true to its original design and intent. A design and intent of off road ruggedness that sells that badge.

Now, are many of the people who buy them going to use the Wrangler for it's design purpose? Likely not, not much more than getting stuck in a wet yard anyways. But the fact that it CAN go through Rubicon. It CAN climb rocks and cross a creek. THAT is what sells the wrangler more than remove-able doors and top. but the doors and top being able to come off do not hurt.

For the intended market, if they had gone bigger they would have missed the mark. for full size, why is it that full 4-door trucks outsell reg/extended cabs by factors? If you made this thing full size, with the size, weight, gas guzzling inefficiency, and price associated with that, you would miss the mark there. There would be very little a FSB could do that can't be done by a standard pickup, you are not creating or gaining into an empty market space, you are adding in another product into an already glutted space. Would they sell? Yes, but enough to live on for years? Probably not. That market space simply is not large enough. And there is no evidence to the contrary.

The smaller, off-road trail capable vehicle market space is large enough however, we know this because of Wrangler sales alone, and also 4runner sales that could be taken by the Bronco.

So, if you want to see if there is a large enough market for the FSB, you do it by starting off in the mid-size trail vehicle market owned by Wrangler and occupied with the 4Runner as well. You build your name, build your following there. Then you expand it into a slightly larger full sized version, see if you can grab, or create, a new market space, grab a few people from the smaller sized vehicle market, and some from the full size truck market, and make a market space large enough to keep that new larger line alive.

I you intentionally this obtuse?

Folks ARE NOT buying the Jeep because it has rugged LOOKS. They are buying it because it has rugged CHOPS. You have to PROVE that you have rugged CHOPS to get that market share. You aren't going to do that in a FSB because the requirement to even attempt to show trail ruggedness requires a smaller size. Ergo, you cannot start with the FSB because the FSB will not be able to compete in that rugged trail based environment. And without proving yourself, you cannot get that market share that is after that actual ruggedness. I can tell you are from LA, the only thing you care about are looks. to each their own.

And you will steal zero of Jeeps marketshare by going full size.

Again, just, no. People buy it because of what it CAN do, even if they know that they never WILL do it. They want to appear rugged, and tough, and adventurous, and that only happens when you are in a non-poser vehicle. (Now, someone who is actually rugged, and tough, and adventurous, can look that way in a prius, but that's a completely different conversation).

Again, people are not buying a Jeep so that they CAN go off-roading, they are buying a Jeep so that they COULD go off-roading.

Except you'd be wrong that I live in the sticks. While not a city of 10 million people, it still not the sticks either. And the frigging traffic right now means it is going to take me 40 minutes to go 12 miles.

And, again, people are not buying a Jeep so that they CAN go off-roading, they are buying a Jeep so that they COULD go off-roading. How is this such a difficult concept to grasp?

Ford discontinues original Bronco - there's a good reason for that...

Ford discontinues FSB - there's only dumb reasons for that.

Just about everyone here (that also thinks having a new FSB would be cool):

"I understand why Ford is bringing back the EB version of the Bronco due to popularity/nostalgia of the EB and the huge popularity of the Wrangler as a rock crawler, overlander, commuter, and even a mall crawler in some cases. Add this to fuel/size efficiency, which is all the rage today and it seems the bringing the EB back may be a profitable, even "safe" strategy in the case Ford had to choose between the Bronco versions. But hopefully the new Bronco has the kind of success that can make a new FSB a viable possibility."

Someone here: Ford is dumb for doing this because mostly rock crawlers buy wranglers and that's like .000001% of people interested in SUVs. We need something that's actually practical unlike this Mini Clubman Ford is doing. Opportunity missed and Ford is going to regret not listening to me.

Poor dead horse...

@TeocaliMG sorry your thread kinda got robbed here but FWIW, I voted F150 FSB. :)

I still wouldn't mind Ford to have a Tremor package on an Expedition tho, as a stop gap. :)

Very simple: because the original, iconic Bronco that established the name and reputation came only in what you call 'midget size'.

In fact, ALL of the previous Broncos have been shorter than the current Ford Edge. Does that make all of them too small also?

Seems like the overall size of vehicles has swelled to the point where there's not a big difference between this new Bronco (assuming the mules sizing are accurate) and early FSB.
Forget labels...what say you guys as to actual size for the new Bronco 2-door?

I've seen extrapolations here on the forum that length will be 162.18" or 167.55". And cab height just a hair over 72".

I haven't seen any forum estimates on width....the current Ranger/Wrangler tape out at 73.3"/73.8" respectively.

Any accurate crystal balls out there???
