This is blatantly copied off of a previous post here that was removed.

Issues and/or things others should change:
Top lid doesn't open far (pictured). I can access things for now, so I'll live with it. I wanted to avoid a large gap so I'm stuck with it like this. I wish I had put a big chamfer on the mating pieces to allow it to open further.

The tiedowns hardware isn't sexy. I need to find something better eventually.

The 3/4 plywood bench is fine, I can sit on it. I will eventually replace it with 4/4 hard maple.

Whats the overall height of the platform? Looks like it sits pretty flush with rear seats?

The bottom supports are two 2x4s glued and screwed together. Then 3/4 ply on that. Plus 4 layers of carpet, so a little over 4.25".

You can make the top platform lower and smaller and try and have it line up with the top of the plastic hump, or go larger and over the hump like me. This is pretty good, if you had something like a sleeping pad you may not notice the ledge. Or for hauling items, since the seat backs slope up anyway this lines up pretty well.

Updated with 1" thick maple. No deflection now, I would recommend over plywood.

I used poly on it...dislike the look. Poly never comes out flawless for me, I should stick to spray lacquer.

Looks good. If I didn't have plans for the liftable lid enclosure I would go this route. Nice job.

I'd add some non-skid or carpet in case you want to stand on it...

Looks great, thanks for sharing. Do you have a source for the slides? Thanks

Looks great I was thinking about doing something just like this but with a storage drawer instead of the table.

I upgraded the wood to 1" hard maple. No flex now, very sturdy.

I put poly on it for waterproofing...but I hate poly. Oh well.
