Hello, I thought I'd share my tow package build. I have not looked for a similar post so apologies if it's a repeat. But here is my self made Tow package. I removed the factory tow package to hopefully get built quicker, and it worked. Here is my parts list, and a quick install review:

Parts:

1. Curt wiring kit p/n: 56468 - $79.82 (etrailer.com)

2. Curt Receiver Hitch: 13493 - $104.31 (toysfortrucks.com)

3. Wiring Connector: Road Tough - $16.89 (Amazon)
https://www.amazon.com/Road-Tough-W...x=road+tough+trailer+connector,aps,114&sr=8-3

Total: $201.02
Savings over Stock: -$393.98

Hitch install, easiest I've ever done. Seriously. It took less than 15 minutes.

Wiring, was relatively easy other than the Wire running to the battery. Had to get creative on that one.

Total install time: 2(ish) hours.

Conclusion: I got my Bronco early, and saved $400. Totally worth it.

If one doesn't need the 7-pin, then yes, you made the right call.

opted for a similar setup, (currently don't have reverse and using curt echo for brakes):

Yes, and I would argue that most towing less than 3500lbs won't need a 7 pin.
Nice work, I plan to do the same.

That said I would’ve agreed with your comment regarding a 7 pin and 3,500 until I did some research and found out a lot more small, light travel trailers and tear drop trailers than I expected do have electronic brakes. It really surprised me that every little teardrop trailer I looked at had electronic brakes even though the ones I looked at weigh less than 2,000 pounds. Anyone considering deleting factory tow should make sure they understand their needs.

Would love it if someone posted a video for this. I may just want to add the hitch for recovery use though.

It's so easy the video would super short. Literally 4 bolts. That's it.

I would add to that statement: If I have the need for 7 lines and trailer brakes in the future I can always add it. People have been adding aftermarket trailer brake controllers to Trucks and SUVs for decades. It would just take some extra effort.

My boat trailer is 2,500 lbs but it has a 7 pin for the reverse lockout. I didn't know about the echo, it's nice but for the price, I'll get out and put the pin in or wire the reverse. Thanks for the info.

Hopefully by the time my BaseSquatch Bronco is built, an aftermarket solution is on sale for the 7 pin.
