That’s the trouble with a First Edition. Almost anything you do to the car will de-value it as a collector car. Keep it original as possible. Do not trash any of the original parts even though they may not be reasonably functional. Even the original paper stickers and paint marks on the car will be of value in the future.

I knew the guy who designed the Ford Thunderbird. He was 13 when he did it. Sent the idea to Ford. He (now his family) has the contract, check ($4000), and original TB final blueprints from Ford. Lee Iacocca signed the check himself. He was a great guy. Went on to have a normal, wonderful life. Retired and shortly after passed from cancer. Sad. World needs more people like him

I wonder if Ford ever considered this as an ‘option’. I’d pay for it. There is a small local car show up by my cabin. There is a guy there w9th a beautiful late 60s convertible firebird. He has the sales contract, etc… from when he bought it new 50+ years ago. Somewhere around $3K if I recall correctly. Looks like this but with orange stripes

Here is what I got today for the 2 door.

Nice, so 3,531 4-doors and 940 2-doors for a total of 4,471. Only 20% of FEʻs are 2-doors.

Iʻd be interested to see the breakdown by color as well. Maybe half are lightning blue?

I got the same package too. The vin badge is cool- think it was someone on this forum or bronco nation that suggested ford should have put our vins in that badge, and Ford listened!
