With Jeep Wranglers and their flat upright windshield, they seem to be prone to getting chips and cracks in the windshield. What does the Bronco6G gang think about the new Bronco being a rock magnet?

Out of 3 cars I don't think I have ever had 3 un-cracked windshields in the last 10yrs. Our 17 escape has a crack right now it picked up this spring. I fully expect the Bronco to break like the rest of them.

I've been driving for 18 years and have had a cracked windshield 1 time, it was a tiny rock that chipped it that I had filled.

It isn't just Wranglers. I own a pre-Fiat Liberty and have had more incidents with rocks/windshield than other vehicles I've owned. It will likely also be an issue with the Bronco. I haven't looked closely at the Bronco Sport whether that would be an issue.

Stop tailgating so much and you'll likely catch fewer rocks from the cars in front of you.

Just a thought....
Yea...no not that simple. 99%of my rock chips come straight off of oncoming traffic. Almost NEVER from the vehicle in front of me. And I've had more rock chips and broken windshields than i can possibly count.

It does help, however a large chunk of ours have actually happened by rocks from the other lane/crap on the roads. Part of the issue is there is a LOT of construction where I live as it is the fastest growing zip in the state and one of the fastest in the nation. With it a large increase in traffic and road construction. It is just one of those things, when I got the mustangs windshield replaced a few years ago as it started cracking it had so many chips/nicks it had a star effect across it.

Well I have Lexus and Cadillac SUV, and both have had cracks that had to be fixed. No vehicle is impervious to flying rocks.

The wife and I were driving her Jeep on the highway, not following anyone and a rock came at us from the car a lane over and at least 3 car lengths in front, and put a big crack in the glass. I'm also thinking the Bronco will do the same.

I don’t know why someone doesn’t come up with chip/crack resistant glass!?

I would happily pay extra for such a vital upgrade. Even more important than ventilated seats !?
