I’ve always changed my oil in all my cars as did my dad….
Anyway, from new….my Bronco dip stick read well up into the twist…. Wondered why they overfilled the oil at the factory….?????
I changed the oil in my 2..7 at 1800 miles. With 6.4 qts in it was at max full mark….

At 6400 miles I went to my dealer to get it serviced and have this 7 quart issue explained….
The service tech explained when he changed my oil that he added 7 quarts…
That… having it measure well into the twist on the dip stick was normal.
But if ever was above the twist…that it is definitely overfilled….
(His words to my ears)

So drove home 2miles to my house… waited for the engine to get stone cold… checked my oil ( multiple times ….much to my shock!!! it was well above the twist.

I pulled the bash panel and started to drain some oil….

What I discovered totally set me back!!!
(the oil) was “BLACK” (WTF😡🤬).

with this, I drained out all of the Oil…. “Black”… Black!!!!!🤬😡🤬

photos self explanatory….new oil vs 2 mile oil from Ford dealership)
Feast your eyes on (what is supposed to be) 7 quarts of fresh oil!!!!!

I’m pissed…. I will never trust anyone but myself (FORD IF YOUR LISTENING)!!!!
I hate being scammed!!!!!!
Not all Ford Service Techs are honest!!!!!

update: Just checked the 100 pound torque on the lug nuts…. They WERE NOT 100ft lb torque spec …. Nor were they torqued evenly…
😡

The oil is surprising, the lug nuts not so much.

Rest and a good nights sleep; you have no idea how much that alone makes my day.

I’d be shocked if the dealer, service manager or GM etc didn’t make things right. Plus I don’t know a service area that doesn’t have cameras all around it.
I meant, what would make things right? What would the dealer had to do to make you happy and a repeated customer in this situation?

Just make it right. Not asking for much.
I just got done building a house during this pandemic crap and I can’t even begin to tell you all the issues we had. I’m sure that dealer has some as well. But if they took ownership of the issue, the rest will fall in place.

Ummm it doesn't take very long at to "turn black" or darken. Especially since you can't extract every drop of old oil, that speeds the process in turning it into a darker color....
100% this. Level is one thing because they’re probably just adding whatever the chart says, but your accusation is undoubtedly incorrect and unfounded. If you’re convinced it wasn’t done, ask the service manager to do it again where you can see it take place, drive the same distance, check it again and then call the dealer and apologize to the technician for wasting their time.

The fact you can see sunlight passing through the bucket of dirty oil tells me it doesn't have 4,800 miles on it. It would be opaque if it was that used.

I mean, is this so outrageous?

This sound more to me like “hey guys paid for oil service and didn’t get one. Had to go back and talk to the manager. Crazy day.”

But we got way too many !!!! and ???? for this.
This forum loves their manhunts 🤣

Oil on left has Two miles on it (one trip home from the dealer)
The oil on the right has zero miles. Yet the same oil from supposedly the same jug.

no oil on the planet can oxidize and turn that black in 2 miles (a few hours after driving it home…)

Sherlock Holmes …. you clearly aren’t.
Believe what you want to believe…

The problem is solved… I won’t be relying on dishonest people to change my oil and service my Bronco.
For the record, I won’t be apologizing to anyone!

This. I’ve had overfill situations where I had to empty some oil in a short while, and it changed color quite rapidly. Mixing with remnants of old oil and already suspending combustion byproducts makes it black real quick!

@Lake Tahoe Traveler did you notice any difference in viscosity?

I bet you are 100% right on the camera. They do it to cover their butt. I would ask if you could see the tape.
