The thing is stampede is that LED headlights really just aren’t a consumable part. It’s like saying the wiring harness needs to be easily replaceable, when it is honestly a lifetime part.
... replace every consumable part and then some on such a vehicle -- yes, including headlights...
People replace parts that are easily broken, regardless of how long it was engineered to last. I bet Ford isn't planning for the windshield to break either, but you can be **** sure people will have to do it.

Shit happens. I'd rather have parts that were easy to work with. It isn't rocket surgery.

At this point I have to assume you're being purposely obtuse just to troll me again.

Not trolling in any way. I just don’t have an issue with modern technology going into my vehicle and reaping the benefits of what that provides. Would a 7” headlight housing just like an old bronco or Jeep be nice for aftermarket and maintenance purposes? Sure. But that’s not going to give us the unique aesthetic this headlight brings. And if you apply that across the whole vehicle, eventually we end up with a Jeep clone or an old Bronco clone which I’ve said repeatedly I’m not interested in. I want a Bronco of the future, not the past. The design can certainly be an homage, but not slavishly so. In addition, we actually have absolutely zero clue how complicated it would even be to replace this headlight. May be just as simple with the modular grille?

Design philosophy.

If Ford is careless about how parts are designed, they're going to shoot themselves in the foot, because no one will want to work on it -- making Bronco ownership more expensive and less popular in the long run.

I kept the last daily driver vehicle I purchased for 15+ years, and the next one will probably last just as long if not longer. I 100% expect to have to replace every consumable part and then some on such a vehicle -- yes, including headlights, because I drive in the dark in deer country all year round. I have replaced the headlights in my current vehicle multiple times because I use them constantly and even a glancing blow from a 200+lb northern plains deer will **** a vehicle up fast. Good luck putting 300k miles on anything but a space shuttle without needing to do some animal strike repairs.

And no, not every little thing that goes wrong is going to be turned in to the insurance company, I might have good rates now but if my policy starts to sound like a slot machine you can bet that just like the casino the insurance company is going to find a way to make sure the balance flows their way.

I really didn't think I had to spell that out for people to understand why poorly or awkwardly designed parts would be concerning.
I can understand the mentality of not reporting things to insurance on an older, less expensive vehicle. Hell, I do the same thing with my beater vehicles if there isn't another vehicle involved. But not going to your insurance company to help you with a brand new vehicle you just paid $35,000+ for? That is literally what you're paying them for. I'm not trying to start anything, I just really don't understand that mentality.

I live around a lot of trees. If a tree falls on our house, which has happened twice now, we still have insurance come out even though we are more than capable of performing the necessary repairs.

I think @Stampede.Offroad is just saying from an overall replacement for whatever reason. A rock chip could cause someone to want to replace it and insurance won't cover that in most cases. If the clearcoat fades over time like many headlights do insurance isn't going to cover that. A tree branch might break off the side market only and then we're going to want to replace the whole thing.

Regardless I don't think these will be hard to replace, just expensive as most headlights nowadays are other than of course the wrangler.

I'm almost positive that clear bubble over the whole assembly is a protectant until it is installed.

So again, Ford is really going all out with the retro. I like it. Though I know some in here wont be happy. I think it will look great when it's all said and done though.

That’s what I’m hoping cuz otherwise dude is clearly fired lol
I've been suspecting for a while now that Ford was going to tease the Bronco Bronco somehow. Whether it's the headlights shining with a barely noticeable outline in a dark room or something else.

I was curious too.

But DanG with just the one post... seems fishy. I'm thinking it was maybe a controlled "leak".
Ford is stepping up their game. Last year we got weird patents every so often to bump attention and stimulate Bronco talk. Maybe for the next few months we'll get pictures of components?

Hopefully we see a front axle or engine next instead of something boring like a glovebox door handle ... :headbang:

Bingo.

I’d rather have stock headlights that aren’t dogshit and don’t need an upgrade. If I need more light well that’s what light bars are for.
My $70k F450 stock headlights are dogshit... the LED ones are much nicer, but at over 4 grand for the option, f that.

The aftermarket isn't necessarily a bad option, it is if you indeed load up with chinabay stuff... For the superduties for example, there's a 1750 dollar option from Morimoto that's every bit as good as the factory LED ones if not better... still expensive, but less than half the price...

https://www.stage3motorsports.com/LF503-2017-2018-F250-F350-Morimoto-XB-LED-Headlights.html

If Ford put projector housings on even their base models that come with halogen bulbs, this wouldn't be much of an issue - just pop some LED bulbs in there, or HIDs, and done. The cutoff on projectors is much much nicer... But they don't, and reflector style housings on anything that's high off the ground are generally crap, and will blind everyone between earth and the international space station if you put LEDs in them...

I’m really liking where this is going. BTW, the banner reflected in the headlight appears the be an ISO 14001 certification from ASR. Some kind of environmental management certification? Probably doesn’t matter.

Oh stop, you're still just whining because you're still upset the BroncoR doesn't look like a clown car

This is a non-issue. If you're too incompetent to be able to change a headlight when you have to remove a grille first, then this isn't the vehicle for you. Go get a Model T or some pile of crap like that if you want simple, leave the good vehicles for the rest of us
