Yes, but the window is there. Probably at most 2 weeks. Ford has already said several times for orders placed during the time period, production will follow reservation order as close as possible. Your reservation spot does matter and will be considered in production planning. The window will close well before production starts. It won’t hold anything up.
Again, as long as your order is placed in a timely fashion, Ford will take the reservation number in consideration. Production dates fill up fast and once they are set, they are set.

Yes, which is not what your first post said at all:
What matters is when you place your order, not your reservation number. If Fred has reservation #1 and Ralph has reservation #2000, Ford isn’t going to wait on Fred if Ralph places his order first.

Moving your reservation is exactly that, moving your reservation. The only thing that matters is when you place your order.

If the guy is blowing smoke now...

Everyone who has a reservation will be given an opportunity to convert it into an order in December. For all those who do during the specified time frame, production will follow as close to the order of reservation, NOT when you place the order in December as you previously said. Once the window for converting reservations closes, there are no more reservations.

No, it's exactly what I've said
What you said was false and misleading. Re-read my post or many others on the process, or go to Ford FAQs. No one discussed missing a window, that is obvious. When you place the order within that window is meaningless, as long as you get it in. Reservation order is what dictates production. You don't get the order in within the window, you don't get to order at all within this process.
We'll see, won't we?

Obviously a background in scheduling and production would be helpful.

Read what was written. I didn't say "NOT when you place the order in December as you previously said". But, now that you've brought it up, No, not everyone is going to place their order in December, It's not going to happen. There will stragglers...count on it. Reservation won't matter.

And why is this such a touchy point?

No one has ordered anything. And when they do, the only thing that will matter is when they get their Bronco.

It's not like a reservation number or production date is going to add anything to resale value.

It's hard to figure that a reservation number and a potential place in line are the high points in anyone's life today.

Wrong! Read what was said, " If Fred has reservation #1 and Ralph has reservation #2000 and Fred places his order a month after Ralph, Ford isn't waiting on Ralph. "

Ford isn't waiting a month to schedule production because Ralph hasn't converted his reservation to an order.

if they do it right your order priorty number will be higher than someone who sits on a reservation, those would most likely get pushed back. This isnt anything new. Also orders can sit around until scheduled which is when the VIN gets assigned then the clock starts.

Just admit you were wrong with your first post and move on. So far you're the only one saying anything about Ford waiting months for orders. It's always been said reservations will be converted to orders in December and after that it will be an order like any other. The only thing touchy about the subject is people putting false info out there. If you want to keep your reservation, order in December. If not, order whenever you want. It's really not that hard to figure out.

Ok dude. Might want to correct your first post...the part you made up specifically.

I’m going to throw some food for thought out there.... We can’t seem to find out what the reservation numbers mean as far as order from when people placed reservation vs their “spot” in line. I have a feeling Ford wants and needs this thing to sell like hot cakes so they want Broncos driving out around every state in the country to get free advertisement by people seeing them on the roads. I would bet that Ford will be thinking about what areas of the countries need more on the road and try to spread out the Broncos to different dealers/areas for reservation holders so they aren’t all piled in one location. Just my opinion though.
However in this scenario would Ford not only look at the dealership location and / or the purchasers address to handle the regional distribution?

Probably not as we have them all over the US right now...

We were told by Ford that they will be produced relatively by the time stamp and res #...

BTW Ford does not do orders like a chef at a restaurant FIFO (first in first out), they compile and produce them as production fits the orders...

All orders will be in that Ford needs to start production prior to said production...

So no Fred or Ralph examples are necessary...

I think what others are trying to say is that ALL reservations need to be turned into orders by a certain deadline, then the window closes. Ford will probably spend a month in the planning stage sorting all orders as they see fit. A month later, job #1 will start.
