How much for direct injection, general reliability, and ecoboom comments?

It's maddening. It's like people think that Ford put zero thought into it and we will only find out the 2.3 is not ebough when the Bronco doesn't even have enough power to get over a speedbump in the lot.

Ill never forget the guy I argued with on here who figured the 2.3 lacked the power to even merge onto a highway.

I can't emphasize enough how effective the 2.3 is in a Ranger. Its strength is its highway pull. The 2.3 will be PLENTY for Bronco and paired with a stick it will be fantastic.

Since I sold off my GTI I've been driving an '02 Ranger with the old-fashioned, non-turbo 2.3 and a 5 speed; I'm so surprised that I haven't blown up or become a red stain on the asphalt yet!

Does that thing still have the 8 spark plugs like the older 2.3's?

No, think 2001 was when they went back to four, please don't give me more work than I already have with it!

Best comment so far. I've got the new ranger. It pulls pretty hard once it gets going even up here at 6000 feet. Paired with the stick it will be more than enough power. My only gripe is the slow takeoffs with the 10 speed auto, but once its gets going its pretty quick. The stick will fix that.

I had all three motors at one time or the other. 2.3,3.0,4.0. My favorite was the 3.0 with 3:73 gearing in a regular cab. That thing would do a burn out until the tires were flat or until I let off of the throttle. lol
