For those thinking about the 2.3 (including those sorry souls who want a manual with the 2.7 but are left contemplating the four-banger), here are the versions of the 2.3 currently produced by Ford:

280 hp at 5,600 rpm, 310 lb-ft at 3,000 rpm. Application: Ford Explorer, Ford Ranger.

285 hp at 5,500 rpm, 305 lb-ft at 2,750 rpm. Application: Lincoln MKC.

310 hp at 5,500 rpm, 320-350 lb-ft at 3,000 rpm. Application: Ford Mustang EcoBoost engine. Power output depends on type of fuel.

350 hp at 6,000 rpm, 350 lb-ft at 3,200 rpm. Application: Ford Focus RS engine specs. This version is also used in the Zenos E10 R.

385 hp at 6,000 rpm, 369 lb-ft at 3,200 rpm. Application: this insane version of the 2.3 EcoBoost is built specially for the VUHL 05 RR (a track car).

If ford offers the tune from day one, I’ll be purchasing. Once tuned, the numbers get closer to the 2.7.... especially if the torque comes in on the earlier side it’ll be very tolerable .... that said I would still prefer the manual with the 2.7.

So is this because you want a 7spd? I’m taking the 2.7 instead of spending $1k trying to milk more power out of a 4 banger

but you’re spending $3500 to get there.
I’m looking 2.3 for a couple reasons

1) I prefer wheeling a manual. Crawler gear is an added bonus

2) I can get similar power for less money and still be within factory limits (400 torque on manual trans)

3) both motors have a proven track record.

4) I canspend the money saved on other features I want to add and use on the Bronco.

I hear ya, to each their own. Ya I’m a manual or bust guy. $3500 to upgrade to the 2.7. I can save that, then put in $1000 to 1600 to put into the 2.3 and have an engine that’s pretty close to the 2.7 and still save $2k. I’d then have my cake and eat it too. To keep the warranty I’d probably only do the ford perf tune first, then add an Intercooler down the road. I plan to add 34-35” tires (I have a Rez for a badlands), and I’ll probably time that with the Intercooler.

We do not know pricing yet...

The prices thrown around here are marketing questions not actual pricing from Ford...

The Ford performance tune you can buy today for the Ranger.

https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-9603-REB

It only make sense to have this for the Bronco 2.3 shortly after launch. That would put it at 325 HP, 370 TQ.

Your not milking power out of a 4 banger. Its a good engine. By getting a tune through Ford performance all your doing is switching from a 87 octane tune to a 93 octane tune. Thats it. 310hp and 360tq. Basically the tune that comes with the Mustang from the Factory. Same engine.

Now if you want to milk power out of it you can get a lot of aftermarket performance upgrades being its a turbo charged Engine and get a lot more power.

Just one minor update
Current Mustang High Performance Pack - 330hp 350ftlb From the factory, another version of the RS motor. With a 5% bigger turbo then the 310hp Mustang.

If you do the factory tune with a bunch of none Ford Parts (Intercooler/Downpipe/etc), does it recognize those mods or no?

No, tunes have to specific to those parts. It's not to say those parts won't work with the tune but you won't get the full benefit

No I understood what you meant. What I am saying is the tune won't compensate enough for those parts.

For example a catted downpipe will probably work with the Ford Performance tune, but you will not get the full benefit of the downpipe with that tune as it does not properly adjust things like can timing. You'll still make power from both but it's not as much as you could.

If you go un- catted you will throw a cell as the O2 sensor will flip a shit.

Moral of the story is if you go aftermarket hard parts go aftermarket staged tune

That's always been the plan, my dealership told me last time when i modded my ecoboost just tell them and unflash it for the service.

Also hope I can store an additional file, in case I go west where its 91
