I had to tell someone this, it really tickled me:

I have a reservation with a dealer farther away from me. I went to the close dealer to test drive a Ranger. Afterwards I emailed him about Bronco stuff, asking him basic questions. He replied to my email with things like “Ford requires you to put down $500 when you order,” etc.
I email him back, asking for clarifications on the points he made...nothing, for 2 weeks. Radio silent. Then he calls me today, “hey this is ____, we met a few weeks ago when you came in.” Sheesh, way to totally ignore me and now act like you haven’t been emailing me back and forth!

With no X-Plan to keep these guys in check, shopping around dealer-wise will be the move.

My local dealer never reached out to me so I called in and was told the special offer they're doing is sticker price and their $900 processing fee. I emailed them and pointed out that a couple of dealers were doing below invoice and a significantly lower processing fee. They emailed back offering invoice pricing and pointed out that their processing fee is actually $899. Big part of the reason for going with a dealer like Granger or Stephen's for me is the transparency they've offered even as Ford continues to change information.

My local dealer told me they require a 2k non-refundable deposit when ordering and that they can't guarantee that the Bronco will be sold with no Dealer Markup. They said there was a lot of "factors" that will go into the pricing on their end. I said that was all I needed to know and swapped my dealership a few days later.

Be kind. They're usually doing the best they can under the circumstances. They can't sell something they don't have yet....and you know more than they do, by far. We'll get there.

Yes, its going to be interesting. We are going to hear all sorts of stories over the next year. Grab a bag of popcorn cause its going to get dicey!!!

I once went in looking at a car marked 29999 on clearance. We got to the negotiating table and it started at 33000.....plus they offered 1k less than what kbb said a dealer would offer on my trade. I hate to say it but it worked. After 2 hours I ended up settling for more than the 29999 after looking at the final paperwork because I was only haggling the difference in price between my car and the new one.

I have a feeling we are going to see a lot of problems coming from allocations and reservations when it comes time to actually order. I wouldn’t recommend anyone change their reservation right now until we see how this next few months plays out.

This right here is sound advice. Unless your dealership is an absolute sack full of buttholes, you would be better off staying put until more information comes out about actual allocation of orders, because it seems very vague and confusing at this point.

The first dealer I reserved at I did so because I had bought a car from and I knew 2 people there. The 2 people were no longer there and to top it off they wouldn't email be back about simple questions before or after placing my reservation with them. They also said they would not offer X-plan (before ford canceled that). I moved to another dealer who emails me back within the hour and would have done X-plan. However I did ask now that X-plan is no go they said it'll be MSRP but they promise there will be no additional mark up. I told them there's another local dealer offering $1000 below invoice and they replied I don't see how that can do that because we don't know what invoice or holdback is yet so...

It doesnt matter if they know what invoice is. They can still offer it. As for the holdback....That might be legitimate if they decide to go under invoice, but they should have a pretty good idea of what it will be.
