After you add on the bumper, switches, and floor mats to basesquatch i think my quick estimate was still about 2k less than my BD build w transfer case. What im looking at basically is do i want upgraded suspension and front end or mgv with choice of color for a relatively similar price. Ford really hamstrung us manual guys. Anyone know if we fall to the MY22 group (which i will) will we be able to change the trim? I have seen we cant change trim from order to vin, but as a change of MY rolls through does that affect anything?

From what I can tell you get the following:
  • Gray grille with white lettering
  • Bigger tires and wheels
  • Steel front and rear bumpers
  • Rock rails and bash plate
  • Locking Rear differential
  • 2 extra G.O.A.T. modes
  • Privacy glass - 2nd row and swing gate
  • MGV interior
  • interior grab handle
  • leather wrapped steering wheel
  • Auxilliary switches
  • rubberized flooring
  • MOLLE strap system on seat backs
  • The ability to get Area 51 or Cactus Grey as your exterior color
And.... more importantly
Cyber freakin orange ?

If you read the details for both, there are many differences. 30 inch tires vs 32, aux switches on BD, keyless entry etc.
But if Squatch was a "need" then the tires are the same.

Base says the exact same thing re: keyless. BD doesn't get you the passive entry function unless you add Mid, which he can't do if he sticks with the manual.

With the Base being purposely underpriced to hit that magical sub $30k number it's hard to beat if you're not loading up on equipment or comfort features.

BD gets you:
more color choices
Vinyl seats
wash-out interior
metal bumpers
upgraded bashplates
rock rails
+2 GOAT modes
overhead aux switches

Maybe more but at least that
That's a lot!

Plus a (slightly) less ugly grille.

It depends on why you include Sasquatch on your list of needs. I want the rear locker and Sasquatch is only way to get that on base, while it's standard on Black Diamond. Once I add the steel bumper and rock rails and aftermarket window tint (crucial in Arizona) to the BaseSquatch, it's nearly identical to the Black Diamond in price.

You’re correct you don’t get much. 2D base is the loss leader and since they’ve allowed SQ on the base it makes almost no sense to upgrade to BD unless you absolutely have to have the MGV, mid package or a trim-locked color.

You can option switches, mats, rails and mod front bumper/bash plates on the base anyway, which makes BD even less of a draw.

We’re conditioned to think that the more expensive option is intrinsically better; and I sometimes find myself working the numbers on my build in BD instead of Base — but I’m always confronted with a 5k gap for stuff I don’t really care about.

Been base squatch 2.7 since day 1. May or may not add remote start aftermarket. Was pissed that there was no hitch available, but once I found out it was only a class II didn't care, will go aftermarket.

I also added wheel lock kit and floor liners
$36, 230 and paint the grill letters

I want manual so I'm wondering if it will drop a grand or more after it is added to BnP. $35,230? But that basically compensates for tax which will knock it back up, we'll see

Originally had sound deadener, mod bumper, and rails which was $38,345 iirc

If I didn't squatch I can get it down to $30,440, and it would still be fun as hell. And you can add anything, and each time you mod something it's like a new car. Gives you something to build

Honestly, the longer it takes to order the more things I realize I don't need. Think I started around 35k, up to 38k, and now realize I could live with 30,440....
I never moved off base though, 40k + isn't an option. I mean, I could do it, but no need. I'm going for closest to an EARLY BRONCO I can get. Less is more.
Thinking squatch for the lockers and get smaller tires later when time to replace
