That CarPlay being restricted to a smaller window looks like ass. That solidifies no need for high package for me.
Its not restricted. It can either take up the large display, the side display or the entire screen. All with either a tap or a swipe of the screen.
It's like on windows PCs when you have two windows side by side

Hmm. Cool. But, I use carplay 99.99% of the time. I'm not trying to impress my friends.

I'll stick with the mid pkg.
Yeah, car play is where it’s at. I love it.

Towards the end of the video they did. They took whatever was on the side screen, swiped it to the large screen and it expanded

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh what exactly did you think it was going to be?
Pretty much what I said, but I was thinking a more modern looking user interface.

Full screen Carplay on the 12"? I'm not seeing that on the video.

If that's the case that would make for a crazy large carplay screen. Which then would make me want the high package.

But, I need to see that in action first (Actually expanding the carplay screen).

Start watching at 3:15. OP pulls it up

I had some time to spend with the 12" screen on the new 2021 F150 and it is amazing! Very quick and easy to use, for sure will be getting it on my Bronco.

This was exactly what I needed to see as I'm trying to decide between basemansquatch or Badlands with upgraded tech.

Thanks for sharing this. I see myself using apple carplay almost exclusively so I don't know if anything extra is necessary for me...

I'm saying it doesn't go fullscreen Apple Carplay, it's windowed into the 3/4 space that Ford software assigns to it. I want full screen CarPlay and the video does not show that.

That side bar that is still up even when car play is running will be great. One of my biggest frustrations in our Mazda's carplay implementation is how hard it is to change the XM station while in Google Maps in CarPlay. This looks like a really elegant solution and a great way to use the large display.

Does the 8" screen do most of the same stuff only smaller? I get the 360 camera wouldn't be there.

The side “pages” screen stays up during car play the whole time. Very integrated design.

I read a couple articles a little while back that were talking about screen size to information displayed ratios. Seems the car manufactures keep making the screens bigger but there is no new information available that is pertinent to the driver worth displaying. It is noticeable on the 12" Ford screen with all the blank space on the menus as its being scrolled through. The only positive point was the increase in font size for older people. All the same info can be displayed on the 8" screen more efficiently. It looks so cool though, lol.
