Here's my conundrum. I just don't think I want 35's. I
Given my min req of LUX(12in screen, etc) I am locked into OBX, BL or FE (WT is a no go on interior)

  • OBX
    • Pros I like AMB + Roast, GVWR allows for more options, Sport goat mode?
    • Cons Tires and stance look dinky, and i don't like painted flares..
  • BL
    • Pros Stock 33's and lift look good
    • Cons I have not real intention of using the swaybar disconnect,
  • FE
    • Pros LOVE Lightning Blue, Somewhat unique, could wait for black modular hart toip
    • Cons 35's, Don't like Brush guard
So i can:
  1. Squatch an OBX and shelve the 35's
  2. Take a stock Badlands and may not love the interior
  3. Take an FE and love the exterior and shelve the 35's
  4. OBX, but lift later and swap flares
This leaves me with a specific question about changing tire sizes and speedometers and odometers
How easy is it to change those.

Unless you reserved a FE you’re not getting one. That said, for the LUX package I feel that the Badlands would be ideal. I’m looking at either a Big Bend squatched or a Badlands stock, then going aftermarket wheels and tires with a lift. I would go Badlands.

If you start with 35s and move to 33s the speedometer will be off and you will show more miles than the car is actually driving. If you start with 33s the opposite is true which is better but still not ideal. I'm not sure when an aftermarket tuner will come out to change out tire size. I'd get the FE start with the 35s and then when a tuner comes out you can drop to 33s if you dont like the 35s. If you want the 33s right away just do that and then get 35's and a tuner later.

So the "speedo gear" is basically all digital/software based now?

Ford knows and has stated how customizable this vehicle is. I would imagine/hope they would make it easy to update.

Calibrating the speedometer should be easy using Forscan as soon as somebody deciphers the address for that setting, which will probably be one week after we start getting these things

Wheels and tires are easy to change so pick the vehicle you like best and don't worry about that. I agree, Lightning Blue is fire!

I voted Stock Badlands.

I know most everyone likes the MGV, but I would prefer cloth if no cooled leather is available. Cloth is cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.

I also want LUX, and Wildtrak is out unless they offer a black cloth interior (and I would wait for painted black mod top)

I don't think an FE is worth 8k over a badlands. (in my badlands configuration)

Squashed OBX is tempting, and I do like the Navy Pier cloth, but I'm just not sure I want Velocity Blue mirror caps and a gloss black grill with a MIC top.

To me, the Badlands looks good with the grill, top and stock wheel pockets grey.

Aftermarket tire/wheel combos can approach 3k pretty quick.

If you have to sell the Bronco later, the stabar disconnect is a selling point.

I voted "OBX" but don't feel the need to lift and change out painted flares. I'm equipping for park roads/fire roads in all weather conditions - no serious rock crawling. Just about every decent off road tire is available in 255/70R18 on 18 x 7.5 rim size - BFG All-Terrain T/A K02, Firestone Destination A/T2, Cooper DIscoverer AT3 RS, etc. Maybe at some point I'll go down to 17 x 8 with 33" to be able to air down a bit better. But other than that no need.

Yeah it may look just fine without it. Not sure though. I know I like how the badlands looks!

Get a white obx and you'll have no problem getting rid of the painted flares! AMB though might look good with all the same since its dark enough but you could get the standard black flares from the parts counter later. If the interior is what's driving you and you don't want 35s then don't squatch and just spend the money on wheels/tires you want.
