Yes it does take weeks. I had a similar situation in which I needed a converted order moved (no fault of the dealer, it was for personal reasons).

It literally took 3 weeks to the day for them to switch time stamps for me. I called once a week to the Ford hotline and talked to their Bronco Specialists. Every call, all I got was "The case is still active". So yeah that part gets frustrating.

On to you issue with both reservations, in the end, that's your choice how you handle them. Like you said, you like Jeeps too. So I guess either you'd be happy with.
This gives me hope. If it takes only 3 weeks that leaves me plenty of time to switch dealers and place my order. The Ford rep on the phone said its taking 4 or more weeks.

Wow... I wonder if it changed recently. When I started it 3 weeks ago I was told 1-2 weeks. Called last Monday only to hear case still open. Then on Thursday, change occurred. 3 weeks to the day from initial call. During my last call with them they did say they had "quite a few" reservation holders with this issue. 🤷‍♂️

Reservation #1: My 7/14 reservation is out of state, so want to move to a local dealer. I spent 2 weeks talking to dealers before finding the one I want to order from. Just before I was going to move my reservation, my old dealer converted my reservation to an order. He understood his mistake and contacted Ford on my behalf. He was given the run around by Ford and unable to put me back to reservation status. I then called Ford several times and gave the info. Ford gave me NO confirmation email or any other proof that they are doing anything. I am told it will take weeks to get this resolved. Others have posted that nothing has happened who are in this same situation. This is complete incompetence on Ford's part, imo. I have ZERO FAITH that my order will be put back to reservation so that i may move to new dealer by the March 19 deadline.

Reservation #2: This 7/17 reservation is also out of state at Caruso Ford in CA, but for some reason I am #8 on their allocation list and would get this Bronco early. For some inexplicable reason, Caruso is REFUSING TO CONVERT MY RESERVATION TO ORDER. Their stated reason is that they are afraid I am going to export the car to another country or something like that. They first told me I could buy the Bronco if I paid CA sales tax, even though I'm registering in FL. I agreed to their condition if they put it in writing, but then they just said they won't sell the Bronco to me. I could move this reservation to a dealer local to me, but have been told by everyone I spoke with that it would most likely be MY22. At Caruso, I'm early MY21 for some reason?

I have spent many many hours over the last month with these issues and although I am in love with the Bronco, I am beyond frustrated with Ford's botched Reservation/Order process. I am now considering a Wrangler. I've bought 4 new Wranglers over the years and never had any issues with them. I bought a Wrangler in CA and had it shipped to MA where I registered it and it was NO problem. Jeep was super helpful.

I now understand there will be Broncos for sale on dealer lots because they can sell 20% of the vehicles to people that are not the ones that ordered without penalty. Perhaps this is why dealers are playing games? Maybe I'll just buy one on a lot when they come out? I am beyond frustrated with all this. Now, when I think about the Bronco, I have a pain in my stomach. Ughh!
Looks like dealers are slowly (quickly?) learning how to game this system. Ford remains silent.

Maybe its a case of under promising (4 weeks) and over delivering (3 weeks).

I changed dealers yesterday on my 2nd reservation. I called Ford's Bronco representative and 3 minutes later my reservation was with a different dealer. That time also includes some chit-chat with the rep. It was easy and seamless.

That’s not the issue, it’s getting a converted order put back into reservation status so it can be transferred.

Can I ask why you have two reservations that are both out of state? Knowing that you can change dealers, why wasn’t at least one of them local?

I just got off the phone with Ford about converting my order back to a reservation so I can change dealerships. I was told it will take weeks. I'm just hoping it happens prior to March 19th. 🤞
Even if it runs past March 19th, you'll still be able to order and keep your place in line... you just would miss out on receiving your bronco in the first quarter of production if you were going to get that otherwise (they are scheduling builds in 3 month chunks)

Sorry - I wasn't clear. I was speaking about your 2nd reservation and moving it as an option.

Getting delayed by 3 months is NOT ACCEPTABLE in this situation. What the hell is the point of timed reservations??

So there wasn’t a mad rush on the dealerships when the order banks opened, and they were allowed to convert orders at a pace that made sense....

...and Ford can schedule in quarterly chunks to allow for better planning and logistics.

Feeling really bad for alot of folks in this situation. My biggest fear is if dealers can't get a simple reservation right, how many orders will be screwed up. Plus how many shady dealers will be selling customer orders when they hit the lots. With the 20% rule it gives alot of dealers to much wiggle room. I'm sure we'll be seeing alot of future posts on how their dealer sold their Bronco by accident. But added a $20k ADM fee to the new buyer.🤔

I received an email from Ford today stating that they understand that I have questions regarding my order and I would have to contact my ordering dealer for answers. Thing is, I never contacted Ford with any questions and when I called Ford about the email, I was transferred to the Bronco specialist who put me on hold for an eternity and never came back! I won’t believe this Bronco until its in the driveway.

Just so you understand something about California, if you buy a vehicle in the state of California and take delivery of it in California, you are required by California law to pay California state tax on this purchase. If you buy a vehicle in California and take delivery of it OUTSIDE the state lines, you will not pay California state tax. This has absolutely nothing to do with your dealer. This is a California thing.

Well, that's not quite true. You may get away with it, but...

"California sales tax generally applies to the sale of vehicles, vessels, and aircraft in this state from a registered dealer. Use tax applies to the sale of vehicles, vessels, and aircraft purchased from non-dealers (for example, private parties) or from outside California for use in this state. Generally, although the rates are the same, it is the responsibility of the purchaser to report and pay use tax if the seller did not collect an amount for California sales or use tax from the purchaser."
