Marine Grade Vinyl vs. Vegan Leather ?

I dropped by a Ford dealer today to quickly see antimatter blue - did not like it, everything was black except that one spot that is reflecting off the sun. Kona Blue would have been a better choice, IMO.

I also got to see and feel “vegan leather” (I think the guy called it “active X”? Something active ...) inside a car in the Ford showroom. I forgot to check what was the car, but I think it was an Escape. The texture was very pebbly but it felt nice and durable. I actually think it would wear better and be more durable than the leather in my own Edge.

anybody know, what’s the difference between MGV and the pebbly vegan leather that I just looked at?

Isn't most leather "vegan"? I mean I've never heard of carnivorous cows and pretty sure once they've been weened they aren't eating dairy.

I am torn on this issue, heated seats are a requirement but farming animals for their hides in 2021 sucks bad. :/

There's no vegan leather (polyurethane) on the Bronco. MGV is generally made from PVC and polyester. It is normally antifungal, mold resistant, etc. They are not the same.

The "leather" option is not actual animal hide. Its synthetic.

I look at is as they are being farmed for their meat, the leather is just a great side benefit.

Heated seats is tied to trim (mid?).

From what I've found online. What makes a vinyl marine grade vs regular is the high UV resistance and anti fungal and microbial properties. MGV does not necessarily it's high quality. There is high and low quality MGV out there.

Vegan leather is a very loosely used term. Its usually polyurethane based. It just means its not real leather. What it is artificially made from can vary. Strength and durability can vary greatly.

MGV you know what you are getting.

Vegan leather, you don't know exactly but, it's a plastic like the vinyl. No extra weather resistant properties.

Standard equipment on the Wildtrak is Mid Package, included is "Front Row Heated Seats" (Right column, 6th bullet).

As you already know, Leather is optional, with it comes the power seat options.
