It must have been a challenge for the engineers to design a removable roof with a solid/functional roof rack.
I wonder if the roof rack itself comes off too?

That'd be nice - because then you could use it when you want and have the better looks when you don't need it (most of the time).

I'm curious about the weight capacity. Like if it ties into the roll bar? I can't imagine those fiberglass (or whatever) roofs can hold that much weight.

I would think that it's removable. I doubt they would design a separate top with an integrated rack. Hopefully.

Fingers crossed.

I like 'em, but my MACH I also had hood tie downs. Will make me feel fast, even in 4lo.

I liked them up until someone named them ‘hood loops’

I'm hoping that would be an optional accessory. Something that fancy for Jeep is about $800.

I'm OK with the look, but if they're plastic, I'm not sure how much faith I'd have tying something to them.
Most kayak/canoe tie down ropes are also made of "plastic" (polypropylene). I wouldn't worry about the structural integrity.

I had one of these in the late 60's and my friends hung on to the
handles by the back window and get pulled through the snow.

Have to protect the paint, but I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t pull some inner tubes through the snow with them...
Gotta know someone, somewhere will try something... o_O

Looking for other ideas for them...
Maybe they could have reverse facing turn signal lights in them, so when you accidentally turn them on off-road, you can see you're driving like a little old lady without having to look down at the dash.

Don't know if that was just a Mopar thing or if Fords had that too (late '60's early '70's).

I'd like to see a tall cross bar lock onto them and tie back into the main roof rack for an extended roof rack.
Then I can haul long boards or an extension ladder.
My wife would like that to for work.

They remind me of the perfect yellow soft top 1997 NAS defender with limb risers I kick myself all the time for not buying in 2003. 20k miles and barely north of 20k. If I bought it then and kept it as a toy and in good shape it’d bring 100k today. That defender is the reason I’m going with cyber orange. My dream car at the time and I spent 15k more and bought a boring infiniti g35 instead. My mom kept talking to me about practicality. Practicality be damned we only have one life
