Updated 5/14/21 with confirmation from the Ford parts system:

Source: https://www.bronco6g.com/forum/threads/2021-bronco-parts-department-catalog-is-up.16634/post-603373

What's the transmission replacement part?

10R60 or 10R80?

Original post:

Am I the only one that was under the impression the Bronco was getting the 10R80? I looked back and all of the discussions I think just assumed as I could not find a reference from Ford stating what specific model would be in the Bronco. I don't know all of the differences between the 80 and the 60 but it just feels funny to have an Explorer transmission in an HD off road machine. I will withhold judgement for now.

nope. I was too. Most disappointing news spec wise I’ve seen so far.

First bit of solid evidence I've seen. Any chance we know exactly what spec Bronco that door jamb sticker is from?

Extremely disappointing tbh.

The Ranger gets the 10R80, but the heavier Bronco with larger tires get the 60?

is it possible the 10R60 would be for the smaller engine and the 2.7 would get the 10R80?
I had the same thought since Ford did something similar with the front axle but they have been pretty clear about that since the beginning. It seems odd Ford has not come out and clearly stated what transmission will be fitted, at least from what I have found.
Maybe people can keep an eye on the data plates as these trucks make their way around.

I should have paid more attention to that. I tried to find the most recent photo so this is one of the Broncos that is currently on dealer tours. I think it is a 4 door OBX.

Apparently the 10R60 shifts drastically different than the 10R80 - and in a positive manner. The 10R60 is not slushy, jerky, laggy or clunky when it downshifts. In fact, you can barely tell that it's downshifting when coming to a stop and there's no jerkiness. So, we got that going for us!

The Bronco should get the heavier duty one, I'm just happy I'm getting the manual to not worry about it.

I have driven the Explorers with the 10R60 and it is extremely sluggish, is constantly shifting, and can't decide what gear it wants to be in. It also causes extreme delay in normal and aggressive acceleration. It's brutal.

This is likely due to slower shifts. Slipping the clutches and bands longer between gear changes. Makes for a nice drive to church, but IMO not ideal on an offroad truck. With the goat modes the shift strategy changes should fix that though.

I'm doubting this simply because the 2.7 with the performance pack would exceed the torque rating of the 10R60.
