Watch this video if you are thinking about getting a Taco. BTW ... I have owned several Toyotas (Landcruiser, Taco, FJ Cruiser and Tundra) BUT I will never buy another Toyota. Toyota is just unwilling to develop or adapt new technologies to their vehicles. The fact that the current Taco still uses rear drum brakes says it all.

I was looking at a Tacoma TRD Pro at the Philly Auto Show a few years ago. Amazing how dated they are. And the rear drums just made me laugh. I guess they go by "if it isn't broke, don't break it" motto.

I was also doing some research on Toyota’s and was surprised at the lack of technology/adapting to the times. I agree it’s likely to keep it simple and “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it” but they lag far behind most others (at least with their trucks/SUVs).

I think Toyota is doing the same thing the Big 3 did in the 1970/80s... resting on there laurels and letting there name sell the product instead of the quality.

I don't even need to watch the video.. Cuz we all know Toyota sucks! 😁

I've never felt toyotas to be anything other than cheap stuff overpriced and with akward flashiness. I dont fit in em so no thanks.

Do any other mid-size pickups have rear discs lately? I thought drums were standard on at least most of them for whatever reason.

You must be a giant because I’m 6’4” and can drive a Tacoma without the seat all the way back.

I watched a TFL video where they tested a new 4Runner TRD and it had that same 4-Lo issue. Another guy had to come help shift the transfer case. Seems like a major design flaw that I’m surprised isn’t made a bigger deal of.

Ehh Toyota’s not made in Japan have been trash for a long time, hardly surprising.
OTOH the Japanese built trucks are very good quality, my mother has averaged 19.1MPG on her 2016 4Runner which has been flawless

Geez, some of the hate. It's a fantastic vehicle except for a couple of things : I've gotten old enough to where it's to uncomfortable to sit in. And in cruise, the tranny is always hunting gears.

It would take a huge redesign to fix the cabin. Not so much the trans.

I prefer the more boring, but oh so comfy and strong tundra.

As a long time Toyota owner and a current taco owner, man it bores me. Been super reliable, like an old hunting dog but it’s time for some car excitement in my life....
Hence the bronco...
