Well this is pretty much my build; Hardtop Roof, 2.7L engine, Lux or Sasquatch Package, Badlands/Wildtrak, Safari Bar or Trailer Tow package, etc. So all I need to do is pick a different model and not equip it like I want. Nice!

I asked Ford this morning what this meant for Wildtrak and 2 door customers since there currently isn't an option for soft tops on them. He didn't know the answer to that and said he'd get back with us. He simply said we should try to switch everyone to the soft top if we could and if they wanted a chance at a Bronco this year.

I haven't read this entire thread, so it could've been stated already, but I will add this part that isn't going to be popular. Given the number of units currently in the queue that have constraints, Ford is going to allow dealers to put in "stock" orders with the hopes they get pulled so the plant is at capacity. I heard that rumor yesterday, and actually tried to put one in WBDO, but we didn't have the option to choose "stock" as the order type. Supposedly within a few days, they will have that changed just like every other model we order. To put in simpler terms, say a dealer is allocated 10 units for a build cycle, but only 5 orders get scheduled because of constraints. If that dealer has stock builds in the system that are buildable, those will get pulled to fill the total allocation of 10.

I assume most dealers will simply put in a bunch of 2.3L, soft top 4 doors with minimal constraint items. Don't shoot the messenger.

Thinking back....didn't Ford instruct us shift from the painted top to the MIC top to ensure receipt in 2021? Maybe I got that wrong. Seems to me Ford could have sent this email much earlier in May and reduced some of this much deserved backlash. Whoever is advising them on this communication approach needs to find a new line of work. I think I am more embarrassed for Ford then mad now. Mad will come later I guess. It is clear to me that Ford is taking this customer base for granted which is unfortunate.

Oh the shenanigans that will ensue because the MY21 supply is so short. "I sold my Bronco after picking it up from the dealer for $15,000 more than what I paid" or "That dealer is charging $20,000 over MSRP for a Bronco sitting on the lot". Going to get ugly.

emailed my dealer's bronco specialist on monday asking if removing the tow package would help my day one reservation get into production and got "i dont think that will help anything" in reply.

i understand that some of us early reservation holders have more patience than others, but there are ways ford can get a bronco in our driveway BEFORE building late reservations:
  • if MIC is the problem, screw the free sound deadening headliner and give me a soft top with the ability to pick up the MIC from a dealer later.
  • if tow is the problem, build my bronco without it and let me get it installed at a dealer later.

Is/was Webasto making the modular hard tops too? First we’re pushed to MIC unless you want modular in the Fall, many of us accepted MIC for a Spring delivery, and now MIC may not even be Fall. What about those that are sticking it out for Modular? No mention of that...

Sold this in November 2020, to generate money for a Bronco, I was assured to be delivered in April/May 2021. Regrets. and Annoyed.

Ford doesn't say they have found a solution to the hardtop issue. Sounds like it might be easier just to go straight old school and stamp them out of steel and I don't care about the weight. I would prefer Ford adding some detail about the exact probably they are having in molding the hardtops and current daily hardtop production numbers and a guesstimate of weekly increase in hardtop production. This is simply the worst management of a product launch of all time. Hard to believe this hardtop issue wasn't fixed six months ago. I thought this email might tell us ford is willing to add the hook ups for hardtop for those of us willing to add the soft top and wait for the hard top to ship at a later date in order to get our Broncs to us but NO. Ford prefers to move soft-top reservation made in October to the front of the line. Once they have filled all soft-top, first editions, priority orders the rest of us that reserved in the first 24 hours might be addressed. If we are lucky we might here back from Ford this year. Very disappointing response from Ford giving us hardtop buyers zero options , but to wait. Priority access to their off road experience, seriously? What a kick in the $#%@

That's a good point. And savy dealer will configure their new-found reservation with fewer constraints and move themselves to the front of the line.
Turning off a bunch of people to the Ford buying experience probably isn’t good for business. Just a hunch.

Um...Isn't Raptor subject to the chip shortage along with the other F-150 and there is no guarantee of receiving the Raptor either?
Nah, nothing to see here. Ford's hack CEO stated that the chip shortage didn't affect them. I guess they're just parking trucks in Kentucky for the fun of it. ;)

Entire problem is Webasto. Begs the question as to why the F___ was a soft top not an option for the 2 door from the get???
My thoughts exactly! Plenty of 2 & 4 dr Jeeps out there WITH TOPS! Why won't a soft top won't fit a 2-dr Bronco? 🤔 From the email, it appears it's not even a consideration at this point.
