To keep I. The spirit of some of these thread responsesā€¦ up sh*ts creek! Lol but in all seriousness, I am GUESSING 2 door will continue being scheduled because you donā€™t have a soft top option at all. Take that with a grain of salt haha
I'll wait for the hard top. If I'm going to pay $44K for a new vehicle - for me and in the industry, it's going to be exactly what I ordered. It will come when it comes. For now, I'm relegated to Bronco Porn LOLOLOL

its easy to believe, were getting late in the year. july is a waste, the bronco plant only open two weeks this month, august is pretty much booked with orders people posting here. Ford has to make all the 7000 FE before end of the year. That only leaves 2-3 months before ford starts changing to MY22. next time ford sends VIN emails it will be for september builds.

I recently joked that the F-150 lightning I reserved just for the hell of it was gonna get built before my Bronco (early July 14 res, 4-door BD, mic, 2.7 mid)

Now itā€™s a full-on reality. Gonna have a real decision to make.

they have the same option everyone has, pick a soft top. just in their case, that means a different trim.

just a jilted badlands MIC order hoping his position in line isnt jumped.
Not an option if you want a WT...duh

My dealer called me a couple a week or so ago and told me that Ford was converting MIC tops to soft tops (with Hard Top prep) on any of the two doors and that he though that I might get a VIN in August and if that happened my WT would be delivered with a soft top. Now.. Small town, only Ford dealer in a hundred mile radius, in the middle of nowhere... doesn't really have a massive Bronco herd of customers.. well under 20 confirmed orders I think and I'm close to the front of the line even with a 9/6 timestamp. I don't think he is as informed as a lot of the other dealers out there.. so "grain of salt", but according to him, if my order actually makes the cut for a MY/21, it will probably be delivered as a soft top. Reading all this - Maybe my dealer got it a little wrong and Ford is planning to use whatever MIC tops are left only on the higher end trims like FE and WT with everything else getting the soft top.

Just a thought
This is wrong in basically every way. You should trust nothing your dealer says based on this.

I am right there with you. I was a late day two reservation holder. My dealer said that 90% of orders are going to be MY22. Maybe just his orders?? Who knows. Also, only 4 of his allocated 28 have been scheduled. With that said, his rep said that if you switch to a soft top, you have a better chance of getting a MY21 but there are no guarantees. With your GM stating that if you switch it wonā€™t make a difference, I donā€™t think anyone knows what the hell is going on.
hmmm. 4 of 28 = 14% already scheduled for MY21

Folks are getting their undergarments all in a knott but if MIC tops are in limited supply then it only makes sense that Trims requiring hard tops take priority. That is, without question, FE, WT, and 2-doors.

All other trims can literally choose a soft top and nothing else about their Bronco will be compromised. All these comments about switching from a WT to blah is simply asinine. It wouldn't be a WT then now would it?
Well, if you really believe that the WT isn't a WT unless it is built like Ford originally wanted, there will be zero produced until 2023. It was designed (black painted grill, mirror caps, black emblem) exclusively for the Black Painted Mod top. The MIC will look like hot garbage next to the glossy black bits on a WT.

By actually applying your argument that a top change from that which Ford originally designed, Ford should announce that no Wildtraks will be produced until 2023 and you have the option of waiting or switching to another model. It is already compromised until 2023 (if they ever even really produce a Mod top). No MICs should be allocated to them. I would extend the argument to the FE models, but they are a special case as they need them built this year.

Why should two door models (excluding WT as noted above) that they can build as designed be shuffled behind a WT that would already be compromised if an MIC was used? Unless you want them to compromise the other units because they cannot build a real WT at this time, a spiteful jab to make others that ordered something else suffer as well? That would be pretty petty.

Full disclosure; when Ford emailed out that the Mod tops were 2022, I figured they would be late '22 at best, so I swapped to a BL and dropped the Mod top. Saved some coin actually, I drive in winter conditions, so I had budgeted replacement wheels and tires for the hybrid mudders and dropped the leather (camo seats in a $55K+ vehicle, really Ford?) for MGV and 33's.

Like everyone else, I have no idea what Ford will do, nor am I even remotely convinced they know themselves, but the only MIC roofed models they can build without it being a compromise are the non FE/WT two doors. Any other action would be another unforced error in the launch of the Bronco.

What is it that we're looking for? Looks like normal fiberglass mat to me.
Exactly. I don't think Ford intended to have the interior hardtop surface looking unfinished with material strands, scrapes, etc. Like some cheap canoe. So they made the decision to cover with fabric.

And as mentioned, I'm fine with some imperfections, and liked the grayish "carbon fiber" utilitarian look of the earlier hardtop interior Ford showed. As long as it's solid and the surface is reasonably finished.

For reference, here are a couple photos of interior hardtop finishes. My 1985 CJ-7 and 1998 TJ. These have been beaten and abused, but they were reasonably well finished for the day.

Glad I updated to a soft top within minutes receiving the hard top delay email a couple of weeks ago. šŸ˜¬

Yeah, I donā€™t know why Ford went with the inside materials they did - it looks so unfinished compared to any Jeep - which is why hotheads or any headliner other than the Coverking looking one Ford is adding will still look unfinished. Even if they will be better sound and temperature insulation.

Taking off the clamshell on my JK takes two people, just like the Webasto one, and the Freedom panels are just as easy.

Itā€™s like they took a finished Jeep product that has been built just fine for decades, and somehow amateured together a worse product. I get the second row comes off on the four door, which is a nice addition, but you look up at unfinished honeycomb when itā€™s on, or the least popular Jeep sound deadening option ā€¦

I think the Mod top, with all those extra removable parts, is going to be a quality problem too wind and water leak-wise.

What were they thinkingā€¦

I left my reservation as a hard top and here is my thinking. Ford is giving every dealer out there 1 or 2 or more mannequin broncos mostly with soft tops that they can sell retail in 6 months. That will be thousands hitting the market about the same time and by then hopefully the $20K over retail hype will be over. if I still really care at that point and don't have my order, I will just try my hardest to buy one of those rather than convert.

The free fabric lining is covering cosmetic imperfections in the hardtop interior.
Has anyone representing Ford admitted that yet or this is just your theory?

do you actually think a company with a big contract from ford is only building a hand full of tops a day. ford probably needs thousands a day for full production so if they are only making a thousand or a little less a day its not enough.
lol.......you need to catch up a bit
