Heck the low fuel light comes on with 5 gallons left in the tank.. a sure way to raise range anxiety. We have owned it for 14+years. Having to stop for gas every 250 miles is ridiculous. Heck my motorcycle goes farther than that (9gal tank 42mpg)
At least it's not an EV, then you can really start talking about Range Anxiety.

You can easily do a Jerry Can Setup, but how can you take care of the batteries when youre out in the middle of nowhere?

Hopefully aftermarket comes up with something better, I was hoping closer to 30 gallons.
Though I guess reason for small tank is that the payload capacity would be negatively impacted. Already worried about how I can keep that weight down.
How come Ford ALWAYS has small fuel tanks? My Old Mustang was 16(ish, forget) and despite being a 2.3, never got past 20.

Looks like I'll be getting around the same range as my Truck, all things considered xD

So just guessing best case
2.3 = 22mph Highway
2.7 = 20mpg Highway.
that’s 370 and 340 miles of range on the 2 door. But bigger tire and lower gear might knock that down to 350-320

so safe bet is 300-350 miles of range. Dependent on trim and engine

Both have bigger tanks than the Mustang. GT500 owners celibrate getting over 200 miles on a tank of gas. lol

300 for the 2.7l 2 door isn't that bad. just about the minimum i'm ok with

I love it when @FirstOnRaceDay gets down and nerdy with the numbers. Thanks for always doing this stuff.

Looks like there may be room for an aftermarket auxiliary tank if they're smart about it and have a heat shield on one side:

Edit: article is misleading

Always harkening back to my old Bronco II's...23 gal (behind the axle) tank and an honest fold flat rear seat. You'd think with 36 years of engineering advancement they could equal this...alas, I'm still in.

I think the 2.7 might get better mileage (than 2.3) with the 35s but not sure how much the gears will come into play. My f150 2.7 avgs 16mpg highways (better city because above 65 it starts drop...3.55 gears) however towing our boat the truck gets 10ish while our 3.5 expedition (3.73) gets 12ish.

30 gallons? No comparable vehicle has a fuel tank near that size.

There are not that many aftermarket gasoline tanks. I think it is hard for an aftermarket company to justify dealing with all the safety concerns, when they won't sell that many aftermarket tanks.

Aftermarket diesel tanks are far more available.

I’m in the same boat.

hopefully the aftermarket comes up with an extended range heavy duty fuel tank pretty fast
I agree 100% on this one. Last round of wheeling in the Raptor registered 9 mpg and there can be some incredibly long distances between gas stations west of the divide.
