Good call out, Phil.

These vehicles are new, expensive, and we all deserve to have them in proper working order. Your early reporting of issues not only helps you get it resolved, it helps future Bronco owners not have to live through the same pains (hopefully).

@flip - With the OTA updates, Iā€™m assuming a lot of software-type gremlins can be worked out remotely, correct? This isnā€™t just for the Sync system?
My opinion on OTAā€¦..I donā€™t have a lot of confidence in this new tech, let me explain. First, this is a new way of software delivery and fairly untested on large vehicle populations. Second, a lot of the software updates and module replacements we do requires a solid connection between the IDS/FDRS and Fordā€™s servers. They are notorious for being down weekly and sometimes for hours during the work day. So much as weā€™ve had to put people in loaners because the site went down mid reprogram. Three, most folks canā€™t figure out how to do their own SYNC updates from their owner.ford.com account because itā€™s complicated. My biggest concern is major updates running overnight and something happens that bricks the PCM (been there, done that too). A tow truck is definitely in your future if you are the unlucky one.

I hope it works because Ford pays squat for my techs to do these updates so in that sense Iā€™m able to make better use of our time. We will see how it works but not super optomistic from the ongoing struggles we have doing the same thing with OE software and a rock solid connection on our end.

Thanks for your 2 cents on this.

Iā€˜m mostly used to software updates on computers, iPadā€™s, phones, etc. And usually they go well. But youā€™re right, the odd time something can go wrong and makes a bad problem even worse. However, Iā€™ve had OTA updates on my Jeep Grand Cherokee a few times now, and it has worked well - Hopefully that trend continues moving forward *knock on wood*

Fords response to this first year of issues will define the vehicle for the next decade. Letā€™s hope they have the foresight to dig in, do whatā€™s right, and secure lifetime customers by effectively and proactively addressing flaws rather than not acknowledging them. The worst thing they can do is go silent. Always communicate, especially in this day and age.

Iā€™ve had them hundreds of times on my Teslas without issue. Hopefully other manufacturers can catch up

As a lucky early owner, this is absolutely my goal. My statements about "normal gremilns" have more to do with my understanding that these things will happen with a new model launch, so I'm not running around saying, "The sky is falling!"

2021 Bronco owners .... guinea pigs making the 2022 and 2023 models the best they can be!!!!

LOL, pure sarcasm above, in case you didn't get.

I'm happy to "pave" the way!!!
Hopefully I'll be on and off the pavement in a week or two.

7/15 build status on the tracker ... no confirmation email yet.
"In production" purgatory. LOL

I can't even imagine what dealers have had to go through in the last ten years with tech advancements.

I am 59 and struggle constantly just learning how to delete junk mail.

Thanks for your updates. : )
