This may be a dumb question... But what the hell is a “cowl?” And where it it located? I’ve never installed my own lights before (hate drilling into my own vehicles). But if drilling can be avoided, I’ll give it a go myself!

The cowl is the plastic piece between the windshield and the under hood area. there is a one torx to the left of the mounting location you remove that and pop it up. After that you can run the wires under it.

We have a video that will be out in a few weeks that will go into detail!

Looking good! Just wondering if you considered Baja Designs and if so, what was the decision maker for going DD vs. BD? Both are great products and have been running DD exterior replacement bulbs in two vehicles for years now and a pair of white BD Squadron Sport fog lights on one vehicle and also have the yellow rock guard lense covers to pop on for fog conditions. I see DD has lens covers too which, is cool between both brands because you're basically getting two types of lights in one.

Personal preference Diode has a higher standard of manufacturing. They were the first with SAE compliant lighting and maintain that. They offer great service and technical advice while offering lenses and covers to help you change your lights easier than other brands.

I know some may say we are biased but when it comes to the research we have done and tested we have always shown a fair comparison and data for all.

How about a wind noise report at highway speeds if there is any significant increase vs. before and after install.
No increased road noise for us! I have been daily driving the bronco for a few weeks now with these and did not experience anything noticeable

Is that a mounting point inward of the current location? That would seem like a good location.

i was wondering if you noticed any specific times where you found the factory lighting to be inadequate? also did you order the auxiliary switch panel or did you need to add a switch to the dash?
Used the oem upfitter switches. Large yellow wire to power it. grounded the harness on existing ground on cowl.

I just liked the look to be honest, lighting is good without them.

Antenna is in the way on the passenger side, I would have liked to have used the inboard bolt as well.

down fall to the inboard bolt is its not rated for weight like the outboard.

I would be careful mounting big pods to it as those 2 inboard bolts hold down the cowl

Curious if anyone knows the purpose and effect of the white lights on the mirrors. Do they shine forward? Clearly they would not compare to a pod or spot light, I just wonder about their overall value and effect.
We recommend DD Combo lights

the bottom half shines light down so you can see the area closest to the bronco and the top half spreads light out so you can see what is upcoming.

We went with this option and it is really nice to have late at night on the country roads.

We recently created this graphic for referencing during at events. Enjoy!
