Update 8/16, I bought the gray one!

With the latest MIC news I finally reached my breaking point on postponing life. However, I'm trying not to dip too much into savings, so I set a cap of $5k for my holdover vehicle, but I still wanted a 4x4 with an open air experience. That narrowed my options way down. Due to covid inflation, TJs missed the cutoff, some YJs make it but ew, a few CJs but usually pretty rough. There's the older 4Runners, but I've never liked anything Toyota. FSBs, but I've never liked them either.

Then I found this gem. I'm going to try to pick it up in a couple days. It pains me to basically pay MSRP on a 33 year old vehicle, but it's cleeean. If it falls through I'll look for another, but I'm convinced at this point Sami is the answer.

Those are fun cars to drive. I rented one in the Caribbean decades ago. We road all over the island and had a blast. I fell in love with the car. However, my wife reminded that going up hills we thought one of us was going to have to get out and push. Not the most powerful cars on the road.

I traded a v8 swapped solid axle Toyota pickup on 37's for a SOA'd Samurai on 33's.
Biggest automotive regret of my life.
The samurai was cool looking and good offroad, but damn near useless on the road. Top speed was 55mph with the little 1.3 litre, downhill with a tailwind.
But it was pretty fun, and I made a little money when I sold it.
I think I'd rather have a nearly stock one if I ever get another one. That one looks very good.

It won’t go more than 53 MPH with those!
Trust me, had one! Unless you regear it!
And strap yourself in And hold the wheel tight when a Semi passes you laughing their ass off!

I'm pretty sure I'll leave it alone, but I'd imagine it would be a dog on 33s. They have all of what 40-50 rwhp?
