There are few new vehicles for sale right now. I drove by a few lots today that had less than 10 vehicles in it. It's a sellers market right now. Take the MSRP price and try to negotiate on other items as others have stated.

Pro-tip: At exactly 10:04 PM, when lightning strikes the clock tower, channeling 1.21 gigawatts of power into the DeLorean’s flux capacitor, go back in time to the day of your order, and negotiate the price for your Bronco.

What happened to the dealer getting penalized 2022 allocation if they didn’t sell the bronco to the named res holder. Or was that something else @Ford Motor Company went back on???? I specifically remember 20% was allowed to not convert over that it began to take away from 2022.

Ditto what has been said. You have NO leverage whatsoever. A couple dealers doing invoice pricing on Broncos is good for the folks willing to travel to that dealership, but I imagine those dealerships are already regretting that they threw that out there when they did. No point or benefit to the dealership at all. Every dealership will easily sell every Bronco they get at MSRP or above. The invoice pricing will get people from out of the area so the dealership won't even get the service and repairs. From a dealership standpoint it is a pointless strategy. Good for the folks who are buying from them to save a couple grand.
Those under invoice dealers are loving it. Here’s why: the allocation formula for ‘22 onwards is mostly based on how many converted orders the dealer had for ‘21 and each year preceding the allocation for the year in question. The few small(er) dealers doing this recognized early on that they could make more money long term by getting people to flock to their dealership with under invoice pricing the first year; the result of which is a massive second, third and fourth year allocation which they are free to sell at whatever price they want.

Lol, I doubt any of them are regretting it at all. The dealership our group partnered with would have had maybe 20 MY21 allocations before, now they have well over 100. That is a lot of additional sales they would not have had in the year of inventory shortages. Plus more opportunity for in house financing, accessory sales, etc. Oh and a bigger potential cancelation pool where they can then sell above MSRP. And let's not forget that future allocations are based off of past sales so when all reservations have finally been built and it is time for dealer inventory they are primed and ready to deliver one of the hotest vehicles of the century. Yeah, I am sure they are regretting it all the way to the bank.

Back on topic. Sorry OP but your leverage ship has sailed. You can ask but I am sure the answer will be no. Best to concentrate on having them not stick you with a bunch of mandatory add-ons.

If they got that much extra allocation because of all the extra pre-orders it makes sense for a smaller dealership. Otherwise many of those pre-orders will just be strung out delivery dates. If every dealer immediately sells their entire allocation, then they are all in the same boat for future allocations. Gotta sell a lot more Broncos making only hold back to make up for giving up 2-3000k up front profit, in the hope of significantly more future allocation. Future allocation is still going to be tied to overall sales volume in the future and not only Bronco sales volume. Hey, like I said, it's good for the folks buying from them. I was a sales manager for a large Ford dealership for 15 years, plus 15 more years with Toyota and Chrysler/Jeep. If it works for them, more power to them. If it was such a smart idea, everyone would be doing it. But, we're just spending time here talking about crap for mostly entertainment while we wait on our Broncos, so just more opinion, FWIW.

Are any dealers approaching the 20% line yet?

Most of the dealers in New York who mass converted all of their customer orders without consent?

“Everyone would be doing it”…nope. Most dealers are way too short sighted. My dealer had an allocation estimate of 16 or so…then offered the deal and will be getting 80 or so…they’ll probably have as many cancellations that they can tack ADM onto as their entire allocation would have been….then they’ll get WAY more 2022 and then 23 Broncos than they would have had allocated. With most holding MSRP…a mid-size dealer left a lot on the table by not offering a deal to get people to reserve with them. Very short sighted…

Idk, 20% might not even be a thing any more. They’ve gone back on the 7 month mannequin rule to 6 months almost everything they’ve said they’ve gone back on. Hopefully they keep up with that trend and back pedal on the October top estimate.

I asked this elsewhere with no response, but this thread seems to be full of good information.

I trust my salesman, but am starting to doubt my dealer. They have been very quiet after I complained about them converting my reservation without my consent while claiming that ford made them do it.

I told them that I would have ford reinstate the reservation for my '22 mansquatch and then move it to another dealer... unless they state in writing what markup or markdown I will receive under this forced "order".

That is still some negotiation power isn't it? Or did we lose the ability to convert an order back to reservation? And thus... I screwed myself? 😆

The best tip here is to negotiate before you placed the order. You have no leverage in this deal now and the dealer will gladly let you walk if you don’t want to pay MSRP.

The time to negotiate was at order. I'm at invoice, and several posters in the area switched to my dealer and got the same deal. There are posters in here who bought additional vehicles from the dealers who are up in here. Those dealers are playing the long game...
