May I make a suggestion?
For those getting their hard tops replaced...ask for your original hard top back. I believe some states have a law where you can ask for your car parts back after it is replaced.....
the law also states you must sell one to me.

This is a ray of hope for end-of-line dwellers like me, who ordered a 2-door hardtop in early August a week before the MIC shutdown. Still back of the line, but at least the line’s moving. Maaaaybe I see my 7-speed 2-dr BB by Christmas 2022?

Right but the fabric was included free, to hide the interior hardtop surface, because the surface was deemed not of a high enough quality finish. In that case, I'm hoping the new hardtop version will take are of that issue (along with the others). Hence no longer a need for the fabric to cover the surface.

Even if the reasoning/assumption/speculation of Ford is to hide the blemish, it is officially named and used as "sound dampening" nothing more.

I was originally hoping for late October delivery at the earliest when they first announced the replacements. Looks like it could be sooner for my Dirt Mountainer.

Agreed it cost Ford less not to collect the $500 for headliner, and was easier to glue on than not glue on. Also the hardtop interior looked so nice, Ford wanted to cover it, so as not to outshine the rest of the vehicle. Facts.

We didn't think they could do it, but they did. The scale of this operation will make for fun reading in the years ahead... I doubt there have been many other situations with tooling components being express airlifted to meet an impossible deadline.

Tooling was up and running Friday and from what I can tell they cranked all weekend. So far, no issues have been discovered. I don't believe they've officially been released for delivery but that should happen later this week.
