Been looking through old posts about covering up the unsightly pinch weld. It's fully exposed with and without steps and mostly covered up by rock sliders.

I'll make it easy for those thinking of following the advice of others; Do not use adhesive trim strips to cover up your pinch welds. Ford themselves has a kit in the accessories catalog.

This particular trim curved inward making it difficult to get good adhesion. Additionally it's impossible to get good adhesion over the bolt heads towards the front. This stuff wouldn't last one off-roading trip, a single AZ summer, a winter, or rainstorm.

I will definitely be painting them black when the time comes.

Personally I'd tape it off and shoot some bedliner or rubberized undercoating on it. It'll hide everything and hold up a long time.

Line-x does underbody coatings. I'm sure they could do the pinch welds as well. Just an optional alternative to prevent rain/debris buildup that other accessories may cause

Are you referring to the Lund "rocker panels" listed on build and price (see below)?

Did you order them and have a bad experience?

First I've heard of an accessory option for this.
You have a link or photo you can share?

I wonder if they're designed to leak. Basically let any moisture that gets in there have a way to get out. I'd look into that before applying anything that may seal them.
Rocker panels usually have drains....
The fresh air intake (for interior) at the base of the windshield usually drains down to the rockers. Unsure if the Bronco is also designed this way.

I installed the Trail Armor rocker panels on my BB yesterday. Looks much better and should provide protection against some of the rock damage we’ve been seeing.

Looks great. Was it a diy install or did you have the shop install? If it was diy, how hard was it?

Never apply anything that will trap water and debris against the paint and underlying metal. Apply clear paint protection film to flat profiles and bedliner-type material to uneven, low and welded areas like the pinch seams.
My Volvo S60R came from the factory with a polyeurea type undercoating that goes up the lower edge of the car a few inches, basically the entire bottom of the car is sealed, they then painted over that. It has no rust after the first 4 years of its life in Chicago and a few winters in eastern PA. Get to it early and it will keep for a lifetime.

DIY/easy. Just use their clean and prep wipes and attach with affixed 3M tape. You have to remove one screw on each side of the rear wheel well trim and reattach it as it goes over the trail armor. Instructions are provided.

Looks so much better with the black cover. But living Michigan, I worry about salt and water getting inside and getting trapped.
Does this piece wrap around the pinch weld or just cover the exterior surfaces? Is there a chanel for water to get trapped and sit?
