So I’ve been talking to a dealer about putting a deposit on their demo and purchasing when the 6 months/mileage requirement was met. We were talking about a slight discount from MSRP and I even started the info on my trade in. This is what I got via email this morning-

<<<<just left a meeting with my GM and on this Bronco I have some new that mat defer us going any further. According to my GM, Ford is making us add over $4k of "add-on Features" to this bronco and because so they are driving the price up to almost $6k over MSRP with no discounts available even as a "Demo" unit. Let me know your thoughts on this and I'll do what i need to on my end to help. Thanks again and have a great day.>>>

Of course I said no way and called BS about Ford making them do anything and that if the GM is not willing to honor our original deal he needs to own it. Anyone heard of Ford “making these dealers honor MSRP and add several thousand in add ons? It already has over 1500 miles on it.
Ford Dealers gonna dealer smh

The truth is the first "demo", FCTP units were chosen by Ford and are stuck with one of 4 packages we had no say in taking. Those packages range from $5,752.95-$7,933.90 retail. So some of that statement is true.

Any other industry, and I am almost positive that scummy business practices like this would result in lawsuits and jail time.

In fairness to the salesman who was working with me, he wrote me back and was pissed the GM threw this out last minute. He said no one ever mentioned any accessories to him and the GM had already discussed the price we were working on and said nothing. He was not happy and apologized to me that we wasted our time. He seemed legitimately sorry and I could tell he felt embarrassed. I told him it’s not on him- the GM should have known better.
Moving on……

Not to be too off-topic, but why are people upset with Tesla not following the dealer model? Seems to avoid this kinda stuff (only to have their own stuff, however).

To be honest, as much as I would never buy their electric nerd mobile, I do like Tesla's business to consumer business model.

Didn't hear any of that forced crap from the dealer and they didn't add anything other than what I ordered. Got the bronco exactly how I wanted it when I took delivery of it
OP is talking about buying the dealers demo/mannequin not ordering a Bronco. As a few dealerships have confirmed, Ford is wanting them to add a bunch of accessories to their demos to showcase them.

I looked at a dealer demo that they just got in. It was still in the shop having accessories installed. Salesman told me the same thing so there might be some truth to that.

Yeah I’m seeing a few others saying the same, so it probably is. If GM knew that (I assume he did since he brought it out at deal time) he should have said so up front.

I've notice some dealers can be more shady than others. Them attempting to overcharge for a new popular vehicle...this is to be expected. It all depends on what you are prepared to do, I've taken the stance when going to a car dealer that I am prepared to walk out. And have done it several times in the past. It all depends on how bad do you want it? And are you willing to overpay for it. Personally i am not willing to overpay which is part of the reason I decided to wait. Sure I'd love to have one now but I'm not going to get gouged for it either.

The accessories can be removed from the vehicle and addendum changed but it doesn't change what Ford bills us for. I guess the dealer could try to recoup some of the costs by reselling the accessories but I doubt they are going to get their cost back.

I think this was a compromise dealer council made with Ford when we were originally not going to get any stock. They said, "Ok, you can have a FCTP but we're going to pick the build and, by the way, load a ton of expensive accessories on it. Thank you drive through"
