My back window just started creaking and popping loudly but I know the cause. I wiped down the gasket between the top and window with a microfiber and now it's squeaking on the glass.. sooo I need some type of lubricant.

Maybe I'll just put the dirt back on and leave it be.
Try baby powder. BMW windows squeaked, dealer recommended it.

Sounds easy enough and sounds like it serves the same purpose as the dust was.. dry lube.

Has anyone seen this? It's not water to my knowledge because it looks and feels slick. We also haven't had any rain lately in my area.

I haven't removed the roof just yet to further inspect, only noticed this when rearranging the rear seats.

Could it be some kind of sealant/protectant for the gaskets that ran down?

Thats what I was thinking, have to further inspect. Doesn't bother me but wanted to share so others were aware. In the end I'm sure these tops will be replaced again.

That looks absolutely terrible on a $50k vehicle.

I’m thinking wheel bearing grease or maybe KY jelly will work

I think you're right. So much so that I'm waiting till spring to tint the windows so I don't have to do it again on MIC 3.0 after the 2.0 disintegrates this winter 😁 The 2-door demo I drove a few months ago had the same residue that looked like a water leak but felt oily. I haven't noticed any on mine so QC must have missed the forgotten random smear KY treatment.

Haha could not agree more. I'm so close to saying screw it because the damn sun shines right through tanning you in the process but knowing Mic3.0 is a real possibility I'm 50/50 now..

Interesting note on the demo... guessing within the same batch mine was in. (I'm a dirt mountain build so could explain why too)

Watch these unfinished edges. It rained yesterday evening and froze last night. Even what looked like solid unfinished edges have become noticeably delaminated. I have my service appointment scheduled for Monday.

Asked my dealer for an update, he said top is on national backorder with no ETA. I assume that means they plan to replace my top.

If you guys aren’t following the no 2.7 thread you may be surprised to learn, as I was, that the ordering system (for new orders/not reservation) is currently not allowing the selection of the 2.7, hardtop, or 2 door for 2022. Hopefully those constraints become available but I’d say that we are going to see a 3.0 top. I imagine the production of 2.0 tops will cease.

Should be ready sometime late 2023 / early 2024.

Makes me happy to have an order in for a 2022 2D WT, that reservation may have been one of the smarter things I have done in the past 6 months. :D
