Trailer hitch wiring

I just picked up my FE and need a tow hitch, such a bummer I couldn’t get it from factory.

Anyone know of other wiring? Or how complicated it is? I’m not sure how fast the ford wiring will come but I need a trailer hitch ASAP. Any thoughts are welcome!

Do you know if functions the same as the ford one? I’m New to hitch wiring, I have a 68 bronco, no wiring

I think it comes with wiring harnesses to clip into the tail light wiring then it requires a 12v positive that runs up to the battery

Looks quite a bit easier than the Ford unit.

I wonder if the Curt wiring harness works the same for the regular taillights and the LED taillights? I would have concerns on the LED taillights and that harness.

Not having trailer brakes might be an issue. I’ll be doing mountain roads. Does the ford 7pin work if installed after the build?

I’m not sure. I think you should ask your dealer

Do any of you know if I need a drop down hitch? With the Sasquatch package? Also I should have no issue with a 6x12 trailer right? I’ll be towing a uhaul trailer.

Ordered the hitch from summit racing for $111 free shipping and the wiring from e trailer. All in for everything was only $200

Lastly, think this can be wired to work?

My understanding with those is that the only extra wire you should need is the constant hot to feed into the wireless controller.

I think if you start with the 4-pin plug and play, there is a 4-way to 7-way converter cable that plugs into the 4-way with an extra pigtail to add the brake signal, constant hot, and reverse. just need the constant hot if you can get away with no reverse on the trailer. then that plug into the wireless controller. This is what I would plan to do if I needed brakes... I don't at the moment and haven't done this, but have looked into it. https://www.etrailer.com/question-274209.html

Constant hot should be easy, but reverse seems elusive.

Ford Tow hitch, but used the Curt kit. Modified to use the Ford 4-way so it mounts to the hitch like it should.

However, in the Curt instructions, it doesn't say to actually connect the black power wire in the steps (1-10):

But it is shown on the last page. Does this need to be wired up? Mine isn't wired up yet and it seems to work fine.

I got the same system, installed 2 days ago. I called and they said it must be installed.

Interesting...keep us posted...maybe just with the LED's? I've got the Curt kit and it would be awesome not to have to bring 12v
