Hello, I'm about to take delivery of my everglades. Been looking at several small mods, but one I'm curious about is the front of the warn winch where the cable comes out. Has anyone gotten anything to hang the hook onto while not in use? I've only been able to find a couple possibilities, but curious if anybody else has done anything with it.

I'm a few days away from picking mine up, as well. Aren't there two tow hooks on either side? You can hook to one of those or get shackles. However, I'll let others that HAVE their Everglades weigh-in/be the experts here.

The tow hooks are being used for the winch plate/bracket. I just winded mine up and it stayed up against the front. If you look at the marketing pics that Ford used when they first introduced the Everglades, you'll see that's what they did too

One could put a tow hook in there and use the that

Oh I see. Yes, tried that first but the hook was too thick. That’s actually where they zip tied it from the factory. It came without the Warn metal hook connected and just the rope end loop (sorry, don’t know proper terminology for it) had two thick zip ties holding it down.

Edit: I think this is the best pic I have of the zip ties before I cut them off and connected the hook.

I just bought some d-ring shackles and hang it from one of them.

I just have the hook pulled tight as is shown in one of the pictures above.

I also have mine pulled tight in as per the Ford marketing pictures and have never had an issue

Ok, thanks guys. I may just pull it tight too. But sometimes I kinda like the d ring idea

I have installed D rings, but still have mine pulled tight against the fairlead for now. Figure I will try both and see which I like better.

Don’t use that hook! Get a F55 ultrahook. Get some recovery training. If your in Florida or can put a large enough group together I do recovery training.
get a cover for the winch to protect the synthetic rope from UV damage

It’s a cheap amazon neoprene cover. Last one I had lasted 4 years
