Well, I see we are still at only 7 members. Bummer. But hey did anyone buy the ONX OFF Road app subscriptions. It is on sale thru today. I think it is like $20 a year maybe a bit more when not on sale. Looks like it shows all the trails around us. So there is my question...are we up for a easy trail ride some weekend? Best to look at the app maps. Not really sure about difficulty. I'm not looking to go mud bogging as this is my more or less daily driver....and I don't want to walk home. LOL.

In the meantime I was able to take off the soft top by myself with the help of 4 pulleys with brakes. Fairly easy. Then I used my electric winch mounted in the trusses and a J-Barr system to lower the hard top on to the body. Not gonna a lie both instances I was all white knuckles, hoping not to slip and scratch or dent the Bronco. It all went fine.

Why would I put the hard top on with it almost summer? Going to Orlando in July for my daughters wedding and I want to have a roof rack to carry extra junk that I'm sure we don't need but wanna have it. And because of some things going on, I needed to take care of it now instead of waiting till the end of June.

Ya I’m surprised at the lack of transfer from Instagram but šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø
I’m totally down for a fun little forest run-I think @pandapaul would knows something fun!
Nice set up you’ve got going. I still can’t decide if I’m gonna sell my hard top for soft-if I had more garage space I’d do both!

Yeah I am allllll for it. It's fine if it's 3 of us or 30. Well actually I would be intimidated about leading 30 vehicles. Anywho, yes. I haven't been in a while, and I've got the itch. I am by no means a professional, but I've been through some of the trails in the Apalachicola several times. Usually I just go down there and improvise my way through whatever looks fun but safe. I think it would be cool and prferable, though, for us to plot out some desired trails/routes that we'd be interested in hitting. Then improv around those. I haven't gotten the OnX app, but if it's on sale I might go ahead and do so. I've just used the Avenza app with the free National Forest map for the region. That has pretty much provided me all the info I've needed EXCEPT for any information about difficulty. Generally the trails with alphabetical suffixes are gnarlier.

Some questions for lining it up:

What date would you all like to shoot for?
How long would you like to be out there?
What depth of water do you imagine you'd be comfortable going through?

Water is the primary obstacle down there, but the depths vary widely depending on recent rainfall. Deep crossings are very avoidable, and I have a winch and recovery gear if anyone gets stuck. I've been meaning to also order a kinetic rope, which I might do tonight since I saw Yankum is having a sale.

Sundays are best for me but if I have enuf notice I can request a Saturday off. I’m good with any depth that doesn’t need a snorkel 🤣 couple hours is probly good for a first run

Hmmm, well, I guess I'm out of my depth. I would think no water for a first outing. I was just looking for a torn up dirt road type of deal. I sure don't want to get "muddy water in the alternator". Saturdays would be the only weekend day that I would be good. I'm retired so just about any weekday would be okay. My Colorado Bison had all the recover gear with winch, etc. It will be a while before I add the winch. Torn between replacing the plastic bumper with a modular, adding the winch up high or going the rough country down low. There is a Chinese copy of the modular bumper on Amazon for around $800. Then another $3 or $400 for the shelf and then whatever for a winch. No more than I ever used my Warn 9.5 rope winch, I leaning toward the Harbor Freight model if I go the shelf route.

I’m sure we can find a path with no water. There’s plenty of forest roads out there :)

We can absolutely avoid any significant water. Totally doable

Also noting the "out of my depth" pun. šŸ‘

So the next 3 Saturdays are the 3rd, 10th, and 17th of June. Which of those would y'all be able to target if any?

The 17th for me-I can request it now. The 3rd I’m in Louisiana for a beach bronco event and the 10th schedule is already made šŸ˜ž

I do have a kid's b-day party to attend that afternoon on the 17th from 2pm-4pm, but that leaves that whole morning wide open

Here it was my idea and well, I have two surgeries coming up around the 9th and the 21st. Not supposed to be a big deal but I will have some restrictions. :( I don't want to commit and then be a no show. I'm not sure how willing my "driver" would be to participate if I couldn't. LOL.

Not really sure what that is at the moment. The next time frame for me will be after the middle of July. Daughter is getting married at the end of the week of the 4th (so around the 8th or 9th).

Well we could line up a couple runs. I think it'd be good to get the ball rolling even if it is just a couple folks at at time. That way we can gain some momentum and experience. :). We can do one in June and then another in July etc
