Broncos Of The Carolinas

Hi. I'm in Beaufort and picked up a Wildtrak back in June. Looking for recommendations for 4x4 spots within a 2 hour drive.

Not really anywhere around here, I am in New Bern and go out to Uwharrie (4 hourish) to hit the trails. If you’ve never been it is worth the trip, plenty of primitive camping locations and a couple of pay campgrounds also.

@Deadpool392 Thanks! Other than beach driving (meh...) that seemed to be the closest thing according to Google. We've been itching to camp a bit, so that could be fun. Maybe combine it with a trip to Knoxville for the Off Rodeo since I haven't done that yet.
Any tips that you can share on tent campsites? My wife would prefer flushing toilets. Showers are optional, at least for 2 nights.

They have showers and toilets at the two campgrounds there, Badin Lake and Arrowhead, and there are vault toilets at several of the trailheads. El Dorado Outpost is right on Hwy 109 near the entrances to the forestry roads that lead to the trails, you can get your annual or day passes there along with a map of all the trails (hiking and horse trails also). There are a couple of different facebook groups that are good for getting current trail conditions, they are prone to getting rutted badly after rain storms. The 3 “D” trails (Daniel, Dutch John, Dickey Bell) are considered the hardest, but the backside of Daniel isn’t bad and the view at the top is great, The hardest part of Dickey Bell has a bypass now (91a), and Dutch John was never a hard trail in my opinion, but now there is a significantly rutted area (folks have made a bypass around it though). The trails do close annually between Dec 15th and Apr 1st, that’s when they do maintenance, but the campgrounds are open year round.

@Deadpool392 Thanks for all of that info.
Looks like they close in about 4 weeks so we won't be able to make it this year. I have a buddy in Asheville with a modded Tacoma and we're pouring over the map for somewhere to meet in the middle and play in the dirt.
