Has anyone ordered vanity plates before? I put my order in through MyPlates.com. The first name selection I tried was EVILQN (big Disney nerd, especially the Villains). Sadly, TX DMV rejected my kick ass selection. So, I went with my old gamer tag instead...still cool, but not as great as the original. Anyway, the way things are going with our builds I may get the plates before the actual car. My question is, how do I go about getting it registered? I know I can google this, but was hoping for some user experience.

So the plates are mailed to the local Tax Office and they will call or email you when they are in. You can pick them up and sign a wavier to promise not to place them on any car until they are registered. When you take delivery of your Bronco you can ask the dealer to register the personalized plates to your new Bronco. Some dealers will do this. If they wont, you will need to wait until your regular plates are in and head down to the tax office and transfer the personalized plates to the Bronco yourself.

I got my plates early and payed for 5 years. However looking back it would have been better putting the plate on layaway. https://www.myplates.com/Layaway

@PC Austin I went with the layaway plan and not minding it. After the DMV poo pooed on my original plate they simply transferred my funds to my new plate. So, not too bad. What did you go with, btw?

Sorry they rejected your name, did you try substituting 1 for the letter I to see if it gets through?
You can also call their customer service line and see if they can allow it. They are always friendly and knowledgeable when I’ve called before.

Multi-year is way to go and layaway will postpone your “start” date until you payoff / pickup the plate.

I have 5 plates so far and originally got the 10-year options they used to offer.

After your plate expires, you will be charged at your next annual renewal at the single year rate.

A savings tip: At that renewal, you can ask for the multi-year renewal discount again, but you need to do so in person at the tax office. (Online doesn’t give you the option). It’s half the price per year on 5 year plans.
