SHOW ME MO BRONCO

Trying to get all Missourians into one group to chat and share Bronco stories and experiences!

Did the Bronco Off-Rodeo this last weekend down in Austin. I've never done any kind of off-roading at all, so felt that this was a must for me to learn the do's and don'ts of off-roading. Also, I wanted to learn about all of the cool toys on the Bronco and what they are meant for and how they work.

After completing the course on Saturday and getting about 5 hours of drive time in the Bronco putting those learned skills to use, I am now way more comfortable with this whole off-roading thing. I only plan to do some light trail driving and RTT camping on weekends, but if I happen to run into some rougher terrain I will now be confident enough to be able to handle that without being scared that I will break my truck somehow.

I'd highly recommend doing the Off-Rodeo if you haven't yet or if you are sitting on the fence about it. For me it was way worth the time, effort, and money. Can't talk enough good about it! The workers/instructors were all very nice and knowledgeable. The food was much better and more than I thought it would be. The course was very well done and offered some really cool off-roading and experience as well.

I agree, you do things that normally you would never attempt. My son and I went to Austin last summer, had a great instructor, and my son had a blast trying to collect all the different stickers they were giving out. He finally got smart and sweet talked the girls on staff to give him all the ones he was missing. I would go again in a heartbeat.

yeah some of the things we came up to to drive up and over, I was like, there's no effing way I would ever think to drive over this. Yet we did.

I’ve been weighing my options. I got the indication that the Vegas was intriguing because it was the only one of the three that wasn’t a national park, so they could manipulate the ground for purposes of simulating different off-road scenarios.

I thought either the New Hampshire or Austin ones might be the most similar to the terrains likeliest to encounter around St Louis & Missouri, but Moab seems so iconic that I thought maybe I should do that, with the assumption I probably wouldn’t truly venture that far out of my way to do Off-Roading.

What did you like most about Austin?

Austin event was on private land, I like that you spent most of the time driving and when problems occurred you would discuss the best use of the bronco features to assist in getting through the issue. Food was really good and enjoyed buying the hats and t-shirts for the memories. We flew into Dallas and ate at Whataburger, then drove to Austin and enjoyed the countryside drive.

agreed with armymp. I liked the terrain, as it's most likely the closest that we'd encounter here in MO. The food was very good. We flew into Austin and got a rental and drove out. Was an hour drive from the Austin Airport and a very easy drive as well. The amount of drive time was very nice. Literally was in the Bronco for at least 5 hours. And the instructors were amazing. I was in the group with John and he was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful at all times.

To be honest, I am thinking about doing Moab as well and just paying for it. I really want to drive Moab and would not feel good trying to do it myself at all. I still won't have my Bronco until probably the end of the summer. So it would be another way to play around in one before that.

MOAB would be a great trip for sure, I used my bronco this weekend to pull our AUDI out of a snow bank, toe hooks sure came in handy. Recovery was also a good topic that was discussed at the off rodeo.

I'm excited to be headed to Vegas one next month. Hoping my daughter doesn't have our first grandbaby early (she's due 2 weeks after we are scheduled to attend).
