The aftermath of my session today. Definitely sign up if you get a chance. It’s literally a poor man’s version of off-roadeo. You use every tool the bronco has. It was so muddy from the rain I thought some places were not doable but I was wrong…the ole badlands ate up every hill climb and mud hole. I literally thought it was only going to be like a test drive on a dirt road and debated even going….boy was I wrong. We got into some shit lmao.

Nice!!! Anybody from your session get stuck? I was so conservative on the throttle most of the time, I think our guide must've been waiting for us to get stuck. 😄 You're right, it was definitely better than expected. I hope they offer more opportunities like this!

@76OrangeCrateJr. Three people had to get pulled out lmao. Since they tried to match you with what you ordered I had a badlands….no chance getting stuck and the dude made me go into every single mud hole/rut. Sketchiest part was him having me climb a side hill to lift a tire and hit the sta-bar disconnect…off camber at like 30 degrees

@RDS12 what?! Sounds like a pretty busy tow session today. I wanted to use that Badlands you were in, as it is my exact build, but the one exception was the game changer. I have a manual on order and the only manual they had available was the two-door BD. That little guy was a beast nonetheless. Would have loved to see that lean in your situation!

Yep they shut down that section shortly after. Another side note, that badlands was a 2.3L and it wasn’t lacking for power at all

Was any Black Diamonds there? If so, how did it do?

@MrJoe Yup! The IS 2 door BD I added in my post from Sat is the one I drove. It handled everything with no problem. Couldn't test the trail turn assist since it was a manual, but it got through everything else with no problem, despite my cautious nature (possibly going a little slower than ideal).

Jelly. I signed up for WVa and all they had open was Thursday. I won't be able to make it because of work 😭

@Krieger Well Scratch that- I cancelled for tomorrow and looked again- there are plenty of openings Saturday and Sunday now :) Looks like I'll get to go after all

@Krieger Great to hear! It was a lot of fun for us and with me being pretty much an amateur, it was a brief but helpful learning experience. I feel like the activity is geared more toward a "try this out and tell us your questions" type thing, but again, my guide was giving me instructions/tips the whole time (like info on lines to avoid ruts, the best gears to use with different obstacles, and the somewhat repeated "even though you're used to pushing in the clutch as you descend a hill, you really can't do that in this situation." haha)

@76OrangeCrateJr. That's great, and exactly what I was hoping to hear! I also went with the manual, but I've never off-roaded a day in my life so I'm really looking for an intro to it. Sounds like they are beginner-friendly so that makes me feel better :) I did the ride along last fall at the Overland Expo and had a lot of fun. The driver was super helpful answering my 20 questions and you could tell he had a lot of experience- but I only learn by doing it myself a few times!
