Anyone seen or have ideas on where to get a machined snorkel vent closures? The plastic ones are so cheap and have warped to a couture which looks awe full when I swapped them.

I’ve debated myself making my own vents, in which I think I might pursue. I definitely don’t have the knowledge/capability to produce and sell, but I can definitely share how I do it once I do.

I just flipped mine at lunch today. I had to bend the closures back the other way a few times to get it to lay flush. These need to be made of a harder material - like metal. I'm thinking about fabricating them this weekend.

I’m in for one if anyone decides to make a few extras

I’ve got a CNC shop who will scan them and give the cad file to send in for fabrication as they did not want to fabricate them. I won’t get them scanned til June when I’m back in Wisconsin. So if anyone find something sooner let me know

Well, I'm pretty busy bringing another old Porsche 914 back from the dead and probably will not have the time to do any fabrication on this part. I'm game on whoever can get this thing cranked out and available for us on this Channel.

I wouldn't mind a better solution for mine as well.

I'd contribute to the cause. I was thinking about doing this too. Perhaps an aluminum with Everglades routed into the solid shape?

@Jonny way 3d printed is plastic. Thats the same as Ford provides

@Jonny way the only problem with putting the trim name on the piece will be if it’s sold it could have trademark problems

3D printed plates would likely be much easier to manufacture.

What's really weird is the cost of replacement covers. I was going to buy another one hoping for a better fit. Found the part expecting to pay about $20 or so for a crudely formed piece of plastic, and it was upwards of $185.
