Peter's Mill Run
Over Memorial Day Weekend I was able to get up to Peter's Mill Run and run the trail there with a buddy of mine. The course is very simple. Rocky in some places, muddy in others and overall a great trail ride. There was no need for recovery gear, although it is always recommended to bring along just in case. We aired down to 30 PSI the first time and 25 PSI the second time to see the difference. 25 PSI was comfortable, but it was mainly preference since the trail was not difficult. The trail was easy and great for any beginner in the Off-Roading world. The trail took about 2-2.5 hours to complete. We ran it from both directions, so we ran it twice.
You should always travel with a buddy, but this course is easy enough that you could do this solo.
If anyone is looking for camping there, there is a campsite called Little Fort Campground right at the entrance that has 9 camping spots which have a tent platform (pea gravel), a picnic table, and a firepit. This camping is FREE and first come, first serve. There is a toilet on site as well which is walkable from any of the sites. We stayed at site 5 which was centrally located and was perfect for 3 rigs. There are walking trails very close to the campground as well which provided a nice hike. There is no cell phone service there, but down the road towards the main road there is service and there is also a small convenient store at the corner which has ice, snacks, etc.
You must purchase a "permit" before going on this trail. The permit can be purchased a variety of stores, but this convenient store at the bottom of the hill sold them for $5 for a day pass, or $12 for a 3-day pass. The pass is a wrist band that you write your name on and the date. Every driver must have a pass, even if they are sharing vehicles.
Let me know if you have completed this course!
