I'm thinking of moving to Asheville from Austin as the heat is unbearable... it has good outdoor activities and a chill city?

Thanks everyone! Was thinking Denver or WNC and I think I prefer the greenery and lower cost of living in WNC!

@Slick85 Some greenery isn't quite legal in NC at this time. Colorado also has more access to off road adventures in my opinion, but both have pros and cons and I'd suggest researching and/or visiting both before a move.

@A51Asheville haha I mean like the green of the blue ridge mountains is nice compared to some of the desert landscape in Colorado even though the rocky mountains are huge

@Slick85 So I’ll preface everything I’m going to say by noting that I live in Brevard which is a lot like living in 1995 Georgetown relative to Asheville. We avoid Asheville (the city) like the plague as it’s got a big homeless problem, drugs, bad politics and general anarchy (much like Austin haha). That said the area as a whole is amazing.. it reminds me of the Austin area in a lot of ways in terms of stuff to do but a way better outdoor scene here courtesy of the mountains, forests and weather. If I were you I’d look south of Asheville (Mills River, Brevard) or West (Canton, Waynesville).

I've lived near Asheville, like within it but in an independent area of town and love Asheville. The downtown scene is fun. Great food. Great beer, great music scene. Easy to get to out door activities. The climate is fantastic. I've lived in the Asheville area since 1977.

2 Door Badlands SAS just got scheduled to be built, July 2021 reservation. Walterboro Ford, not sure if I will take delivery or not, pretty happy with my JLUR. Anyone make the switch and have any regrets? I'd like to get to 2 doors, and I like the 2 door Bronco size wise better than the 2 door Jeep. Just not sure with surf gear, mountain bikes, etc. I can/want to make it work.

After 480 says I can say that it was worth it. We got ours 11/11/22 and have loved it. Plus it rides so much better then my co-workers wrangler on those tiny little 33's

I'd recommend driving the Bronco before you decide. I have a 2 door Base M/T and my wife has a 21 JLU Sahara M/T. IMO, the Bronco rides and shifts so much better than the Jeep, my kids even comment on how much better the Bronco rides. The only downside of the 2 DR is as you mentioned, hauling stuff. With racks/carriers, you could get creative I guess. If I didn't have an F150 for trips/hauling stuff, I would've gotten a 4 door.
AJKitebrder40
@Blackcat Ironically, I Turo'ed one in Canada, it was a 4 door, and I said.......yeah I'm good it's too wide for most of the off-roading I do, felt way too big compared to the Jeep. Definitely more comfortable, but......it felt like a truck width wise. Obviously the 2 door has the same width, but may be a nice compromise in having a bit more room but 2 less doors.

A big factor is how smooth the M/T is, the JL Is umm.......not.
Blackcat
Blackcat
@AJKitebrder40 I think you'll be happy with the m/t. Mine is much smother than the wife's.

I had a 15JKU Hard Rock, and am in a 22 BD 4 door so not apples to apples. I like the Bronco better, but had electrical issues out of the box on my JKU. So far no regrets.

For the folks in the triangle area - what Ford Dealership/Service Dept. do you use? Went to Capital Ford the other day for a quick question, did not have a good experience and was turned off. Can anyone recommend a shop?

I never go to the dealership for service unless its covered under the warranty. When I had a jeep I went to the dealership once to get something with my computer fixed and they charged me a ridiculous amount. Found out it would have been $100 cheaper at Firestone and I never went to them again for anything other than my first 5 oil changes, which were free. Plus, I always had to wait a ridiculous amount of time and whenever I would call in they would be rude until they found out I actually owned a vehicle purchased through them. ANYWAYYY I say all this to ask are you adamant on going to the dealership? Why not go to Firestone, or Carmedix? I've had great experiences with both. Ford might be better, but my jeep dealership left a bad stain for other dealerships. I'd rather not deal with them outside of purchasing a vehicle.

One thing making me go back to the dealer for servicing is FordPass points, I'm using them for oil changes and tire rotation. I've found Crossroads Ford in Apex Quick Lane to be pretty convenient and fast.

I forgot about the ford pass points incentives. I used all mine up in one transaction ordering accessories lol. I ordered through, and had them shipped to, the University Ford on Roxboro and they were all really nice throughout that process. Know nothing of their service though.
I'm afraid to go back to the other University Ford on Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd. I got my first Bronco from them, but returned it the next day when another dealership offered me a better price on a higher trim. So, I'm sure they hate me.
Buttt I can agree with you that my guy at that University Ford was not very informative, he told me nothing about the bronco, just let me test drive etc. and I was so excited I thought nothing of it. When I went to get my forever Bronco out in VA, this guy explained everything on the inside, outside, and under the hood to me, and was even able to explain why Ford incorporated certain designs.

If anyone is interested I have a Dometic CFC 55 for sale. A few scuffs from in and out of truck but other than that it works perfect. It will hold a temp of 3 degrees and up. Only selling because I’m a distributor for Blizzard Box now so I put one of my demos in the Bronco. I’ll tak $750 for it. Paid $1200 a year ago.

Winston Salem, im out of town but its at my shop and my son can sell it to you. I will be back on the 14th of January if you want to wait until then I could meet you in Charlotte.

Anyone in the NC Triad area that can recommend a Ford dealer that does decent transmission work? I’m in Winston but willing to travel some if needed. My 7MT is making the dreaded synchro noise, a bit hesitant to let just any dealer work on it based on some of the comments on the general forum and 7MT threads. Thanks in advance!

@sunpro2010 I bought my F150 there (2018) and have had service there. My experience has been good with their service department. Seems like a crap shoot these days at most dealers.

@Tank I have bought by Braptor, F450 and my daughters focus in the last few years. did not spend all day there like other dealers I have purchased from in any brand

We should have a Carolina Bronco meetup. I keep seeing all these post of meetups and it just looks like a great time, plus it's rare that I see another Bronco, so I'm anxious to see a bunch of us ride out together.

I'll have to check with you, David, when my warranty runs out. Waiting for that before doing any changes.

That said, I dropped mine off for the driveshaft recall this afternoon, plan on picking up tomorrow.

I am in Winston-Salem with Forscan & FDRS on my laptop. I have added Aux Switches, changed my tire size & eliminated the double honk when I have the keys in my pocket exiting the running truck. I do not think the auto start/stop can be deleted, unless you actually buy the bypass kit? With the bypass kit, you can set it to off & never deal with it again.

I'd be happy to help out anyone in the Raleigh area. I've added factory fog lights switches to my Badlands with modular bumper, disabled the double honk, added Sport Mode, increased the temp of my heated steering wheel.

Haven't been able to get the auto up windows to work though. Everything else has been a breeze.

Hey y’all I posted this on the BOTC website a little bit ago, but my school is having an auto show fundraiser this Saturday, can anyone come?

It’s from 9am - 1pm with a $20 registration fee which gives you a choice of 3 of the 15 categories (best offroad, loudest exhaust, etc)

There’s more info on our Instagram @mp_autoclub and if you have any questions, let me know!

I hope some of you can make it!!

Hi all, Im looking to take my BL off road for the first time! I'm considering going to Brown Mountain which I read that it's more beginner friendly. Does anyone know the actual trail difficulty and completion time? What hours are not packed? Do you need to air down?

If you have any insights I'd be happy to take them :)

Glad to be a part of the group and hope to get out with everyone soon, still waiting for a build date!

I have been wondering though and trying to navigate this ever changing market and I was starting to wonder if anyone recommended a certain Carolina Credit Union or what they ended up going with to get the best rate?

I keep hearing Fords rates have been getting pretty high and the longer I wait the more they go and the more I’m trying to figure out what I need to do to get the best rate? I have excellent credit (800+)

Does anyone know how long you have to wait to refinance a loan? I got mine through the dealership but they used Northwest Bank. I was in the 4's with them.

@GOAT You can do it right away. Usually recommended to wait 10 days after doing the first one. I know in the past they say to wait for credit score to come back up but if you just completed the purchase it hasn't hit your score yet.

Anyone in the Charlotte NC/Rock Hill SC area have a Forscan or Superchips Flashcal? Trying to plan out my approach to tire upgrades and ultimately thinking SAS takeoffs. Ensuring the speedometer is correct after the upgrade is a must for me and I’ve seen posts in other Geos where guys are offering the use of their device or even to help out in getting everything set up for $30-$40. Curious if we could get the same thing going on this neck of the woods.
